A brew to finish a day in the fields! This sparkling wine / beer hybrid perfectly balances the familiar spicy characteristics of the saison yeast and apple tartness with rich honey notes.

Goes down easy, and the apple is strong, but a bit puzzled as to why.

Can. Pours hazy light golden, with a big creamy, off white head. Aroma is wooden yeast, stone fruits, apples and white sugar Medium to full body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is sweet, fruity yeast, with hay, grassy notes and wooden barrels, as well as some malts and notes of alcohol. Dry, earthy finish.

330 ml can. Clear golden body with a small white head. Aroma is citric fruity with a spicy touch. Flavor is nice and refreshing, citric fruit, light acidic apple, mild pale malt and not much bitterness. Medium body and fruity aftertaste that ends up a bit sweet. Alcohol is well hidden. Drinkable, but not too impressive.

Can from Thirsty, Cambridge, drunk at home. Yellow/gold with a sizeable white head. Not quite clear. The apple dominates the aroma at first, but patience will bring forth that sticky, sugary yeast smell of a good saison. Taste is sweet with an insistent tartness from the apple. It’s a nice combination but a bit messy. Full body with an unwelcome astringency at the end. A very ambitious recipe that doesn’t quite convince, but still an above average brew.

Can at Bishops Vasagatan. Slightly hazy golden pour with faint white head. Aroma of apple, light funk, caramel and yeast. Similar taste. A little bit on the sweeter side with a slightly dry, oaky finish.
