A soft tan head on a near black body. A vibrant nose features fresh ground coffee, cocoa and a touch of cream. This baby is a cut above. Definitely features roasted coconut, smooth milk chocolate, macaroons, cream and hints of dark berries and nuts. Appealing density, mid-range carbonation. Vibrant definable tastes that are still subtle and well blended.

Cask days 2014.
A really impressive mix of nutty, sweet coconut with some very roasty, dark, slightly soyish coffee. The sweetness wasnt overpowering, but just sweet enough to compliment the intense nutty roastiness from the coffee. Both melded beautifully. One of my favs of the festival.

This porter poured a deep black colour with a creamy, brown head. Nice lacing. Scents include caramel, coconut, coffee, burnt toast and a little dark chocolate. First swig was smooth, creamy and roasted with flavours of hazelnut, cocoa, coconut, coffee and deeply toasted bread. Delicious. Finish is nice and roasted, slightly sweet with perfect carbonation.

Sergey’s hunt
Dark brown color, near black. The aroma is earthy, some chocolate. The mouthfeel is quite dry, there is chocolate, coconut, some leather.
Nice, but such beer requires more sweetness.

650ml bottle (thx, Louis-P. B.!) at Alex’s with Jamey. Pours an almost black with a beige head. Aroma is coffee, roasted malt and some fruity notes. Taste is similar, quite dry, some sourness from Arabica style coffee, slight coconut notes. Low sweetness. Quite good stuff.

650mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is hugely chocolatey, with light espresso, and fudge. Flavour is loaded with chocolate fudge upfront, followed by light espresso. A huge fudge bomb. A bit too sludgy, but it works. Solid.

Bottle: Poured a black color porter with a large brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of coffee notes with some roasted malt and light coconut is pleasant enough. Taste is a good mix of roasted malt with some strong coffee notes and some coconut notes. Body is thinner then I was expecting with some good carbonation. Not bad but body is defiantly too thin.

Pours a dark brown colour with some mild ruby highlights. The head is mocha coloured with good retention and some thick creamy lacing. Aromas of dark roasted malts, chocolate, coffee notes and coconut. The taste has the burnt malts again, but with hints of apples. Yeast and cocoa creating a little tarty mouthfeel in the finish, but not before passing through a smoothness. The coconut is pretty mild in the flavours, almost not present. Still, a great flavoured porter.

Bottle from the LCBO. Pitch black with a lingering two finger khaki coloured head that leaves tight lace. Nose is tons of dark roast coffee with some molasses, dark chocolate, nuttiness ( that I would not immediately identify as coconut), and hints of vanilla. Flavour is more subtle than the nose but balanced, with light sweet coconut and toffee under a moderate coffee bitterness with some smoke and light nus. Body is medium and creamy with soft carbonation and a lingering dry finish. The coconut appears more prominently in the finish as it warms but is well restrained (since I’m not a fan of coconut). 9-/4/8-/4-/15

(bottle) clear, very dark brown colour with a small brown head; aroma of coffee, smoke, jam; smooth palate; intense, balanced flavour with a long, light bitter finish
