33cl bottle; BB 9th Oct 2020. Drank in the Bier Paleis, Brugge on 3rd Jan 2020. Red hue to the dark brown body, beige head that lasted. Malty, toasty nose with a hint of dark fruits. Taste is also malty again with dark fruits coming through. Sweetish in nature and an OK beer all round.

An appreciated purchase from belgiuminabox some time back, I will use my ABGB snifter for this sampling. The delivery is a cola brown, more like La Trappe's quad than others. It leaves a decent level of light tan foam that slowly dissipates. The scent is fine, dark fruit, yellow fruit and a little something from the field. I take a drink. Not bad, not bad at all. Raisins, figs, sorghum, wheat bread, red plums and perhaps a bit of caramel sweetness with a small bitterness completing. This has been pleasing, I've had some time between quadrupels.

Frothy head. Beautiful dark red color. Raisin, porto and malt in the aroma. Sweet, thick and malty flavor with figs, raisin and licorice. Surprisingly hoppy. Lasting hopbitter and licorice finish. Excellent!

Bottle in Brussels. It pours deep brown with a thick beige head. The aroma is rich, sweet, brown bread, toasty grain, treacle, spice, dried fruits, date and prune. The taste is bitter - sweet, sticky, slick, oily, brown bread, fruit cake, prune, date, glacé cherry, spice, tannin, stewed Black tea, candi sugar, vimto and some alcohol warmth through the finish. Medium - full body and moderate, prickly carbonation. Punchy. Perhaps not much depth, but really it's not bad.
