Honey Elixir is a beautiful mahogany coloured medium body English style brown ale pours with a beige medium density head. Initial aromas suggest sweet fresh honey, some fig and raisin with an underlying hint of toasted nuts and spices. On the palate, the tastes of honey, taffy and a subtle espresso wash over, met with a refreshing well-balanced hop finish with subtle sweet fruit notes making your palate long for more.

750ml bottle from the lcbo. Dark amber pour, small beige head. Faint hop aroma, light sweet malts. Pretty boring and basic. The honey imparts a light sweetness, but i think its just adding some color and not much else. The finish is lightly bitter, with some more light cereal malts.

Can - Caramel and biscuity malts. Cloudy copper with a thin off white head. Biscuit malts and caramel. Light bitterness and quite like an English bitter.

A clear reddish brown ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt with dark fruits, molasses, honey, nice. In mouth, a sweet nutty caramel malt with roasted notes, treacle, plums, interesting. Bottle from LCBO.

Bottle: Poured a clear deep amber color ale with a medium size foamy head with OK retention and minimal lacing. Aroma consists of medium caramelized malt with light sweet undertones. Taste is quite bland with light honey notes and some caramel malt notes as well. Body is about average with medium carbonation. Bland and average offering – it kind of makes me feel good about not having to drink beers from the early 1800’s everyday.

750ml brown bottle from the LCBO with a painted label (front and back) that is pretty nice (old school western). Now called "Honey Bee’Lixir" and at 5% ABV. Pours a clean copper colour with a creamy, light-beige coloured, head that has good retention and great thick lacing. Not sure if this one is infected as it has this mild sourness that should not be there, or if the hop they use turns me off. Light sweet and fruity malts aromas. The taste has a bit of sweetness as well, with some sugars and roasted barley. The honey notes come in the finish. So, a beer that looks good for the style (with its bottle), but not much else in ways of honey brown.

This trad ale poured a dark amber colour with a bright white, soapy head. Scents include ligght vinegar, caramel and bread. First sip was medium bodied with flavours of honey and malt with additional flavours of cereal. Finish of honey and vinegar. eh?

Strong taste of barley on this one. Good pour with average lacing, brown amber colour. Taste has more barley than honey, a good dose of bitter. Has an odd aroma, a sense of perfume almost. Tap at cloak and dagger.
