Fles 75cl. Donker roodbruin bier met schuim. Smaak is warm en krachtig met iets van chocolade, wat noten en een klein beetje zure bessen om het af te maken. Heel goed gedaan.

Huge, dense yellow-cream head, pitting in over opaque ruby-brown beer, lacerings. Roasted malts, molasses, bit of mocha, dark grains, melanoidins. Sweet, discreet notes of coffee, getting a bit stronger & more bitter/burnt in the finish. Slightly bitter chocolate, chocolate malt, roast. Bit chewy, but not really well-bodied. Good carbonation, long-lasting slickness, even a bit sticky in the end. Well... for once the rstraint exercised at Palm/De Hoorn pays off; real microbrewers might have come up with another atrocious cold black coffee sludge... but then also, there's not much special here. Choices, choices.

Thanks for sharing tderoeck + Rubin77 + nathanvc! Sampled 750 ml. bottle @ Bierfestival Brugge 2019. Dark brown amber. Nose is extremely vegetable & green coffee, paprika coffee & chilli vegetable coffee. Taste is weirdly sweet with that vegetable, chilli, paprika green coffee, thick, yeah that coffee is way, way too green or used in a really bad way.

2 February 2019. At Brugs Bierfestival. Cheers to tderoeck, 77ships, Rubin77, Jerre, Kevin & Anke! Hazy, almost clear, dark brown with a lasting, unstable, frothy, off-white head; little lacing. Aroma of pure coffee roast, earth, wet leaves, walnut, toffee, raisin, dough. Taste is medium malty sweet, notes of caramel & toffee with (slightly industrial) milk chocolate; light roasted bitter middle brings coffee pad, some roasted nuts, and a herbal accent of tea & leaves. Dryish, toasty finish, bit earthy hoppy, lingering chocolate, caramel & coffee, warming glow of jenever alcohol. Medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation. Unconvincing in the end, although the aroma was quite promising. Guess that's the standard for this series...

2/II/19 - sample @ Brugs Bierfestival, BB: n/a - (2019-171) Thanks to the Belgian ratebeer crew for sharing todays' beers!
Clear reddish brown beer, small creamy beige head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: lots and lots of green coffee, soft roast, malty. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: very metallic, green coffee, soft roast, little acidic. Aftertaste: soft bitterness, sweet touch, some caramel, metallic, and is that chillies?

Pours very dark caramel brown. Very near totally black . Small white head. Smell is coffe, freshly grinded , bit bitter. Taste is black malts, coffee, very clearly so. Rather sweet, fresh grinded coffee. Medium bitterness. Not bad at all. Could use a mote thick body, but if it had, it could truly compete with other beers In the style.
