Wizard Wolf was the first Pale Ale we ever made, and the goal has always been the same: to brew a beer with big hop aroma, low bitterness and easy drinkability. But, we also never shy away from evolving and expanding our taste preferences and recipes, and we felt that now is the perfect time to give our trusty Pale Ale a classic update.
This new version stays true to what got us hooked in the first place: same label, same ABV, same spirit. Brewed with Simcoe, Cascade, and Amarillo hops, it's packed with aromas of grapefruit, lemon peel, and fresh cut grass, all on a crisp, dry, lightly malty base.
No haze, no fuss: just the clear, balanced, easy-drinking Pale Ale that made Wizard Wolf a favourite all those years ago.

500mL bottle, pours a cloudy pale golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out astringent floral hops and crackery malt. Flavour is exactly the same, with wheaty dry hops and dry crackery malt. Not the most interesting beer from these dudes, but still decent.

Bottle from the brewery. A lovely light copper gold with a nice filmy white head. A clean bready pine aroma. Impressively full bodied with a soft smooth round mouthfeel. The taste has a bitter earthy pine bark hit upfront then tons of fruitiness in the finish: tangerines, peaches, mango. A wonderfully satisfying session ale.

Bottle from the brewery. Hazy pale orange-yellow with a small white head that fades slowly and leaves some lace. Nose is lemon and grapefruit with light pine and some floral notes. Light sweet caramel and fruit start leading to a moderate bitter grapefruit and light spice middle and a dry finish. Mouth is the light side of medium but not watery with quite active carbonation. Excellent session PA.

(Tap sample at brewpub, Jul 3 2014) Pours a slightly hazy dark orangish gold with an average white head and some lace. Aroma has orange/grapefruit peel, peach, floral, bit of tropical fruit, smells pretty nice. On the palate, orange peel, floral, light pine, peach, pale malts are lightly sweet, bit of grain. The hops are moderate in intensity initially and trail off, but it’s more watery than punchy and bitter on the finish. Kinda fizzles. Light body, moderate carb. It’s a decent session beer I suppose, but it tasted too "light" on the tongue for nearly 5% from my perspective. I’ve never tried it before because I’ve always gone for a full on IPA, and would again in the future. Would be great for many more casual beer drinkers though.

Bottle: Poured an amber color ale with a large foamy head with good retention with some good lacing. Aroma of earthy hops with light citrus notes is quite interesting. Taste is a solid mix of citrus and earthy hops with some light dry caramel malt. Body is fuller than expected with good carbonation. Hoppier and tastier than I had expected for a low ABV session-style beer. I wish this was accessible to me.

This APA poured a cloudy dark yellow colour with a minimal head. Scents include pineapple citrus hops, orange citrus hops and maybe a floral hop? First swig was smooth and a little watery. Hop level alot less than expected based on the scents. Flavours of lemon zest and citrus hop in general. Finish was mildly bitter with the citrus shining through.

Light amber colour. Decent fruity nose with apples and oranges, very clean. The mouth is moderately light with decent backbone, very well balanced. Snappy hops and really good example of an American Pale Ale. Lovely.

Enjoyed on tap at Bellwoods Brewery in Toronto, ON. Appearance is a very cloudy gold with a rich white head. Aroma of light citrus hops, floral and light smells great. Taste is also light with a great citrus bitterness, orange peel, very nice stuff. Great place, great brew.

A hazed amber ale with a thin light mocha head. In aroma, nice pungent floral hops, piney and resinous, over citrus and biscuit malt. In mouth, a dry grassy malt with sharp British hops, grassy and puckering, but overall nice.
