Bottle on 11/14/2009 from Trader Joes - Short Pump. Very clear pale yellow body with a small frothy white head. Sweet corn and pilsener malt aroma. Sweet corn flavor, some honey malt and pilsener malt. Light body with moderately high carbonation.

Thanks to yobdoog-12oz can-pours a fizzy off white head and gold color. Aroma is quite perfumy/spice, initially, sweet arin, apple. Taste is perfumy/spice hops, sweet grain, apple. OK effervescence/carbonation. Interesting.

I used to rate this as a 1.9, but after having it again, I think I have to drop my rating. This is absurdly sweet and tastes like rotten malt liquor. I got a hangover, and I know it is because of the half can of this sub-piss water that I, to my chagrin, consumed. Trader Joe’s should just repackage Bud and save us all the suffering that will ensue from drinking this beer equivalent to Ganges river water. Cheap TJ six-pack my girlfriend picked up. Standard pale pour. Sweet aroma and the taste is also the same: sweet. Not very much in the way of flavor, but it is cheap and slightly better than your Bud, Beast, or Bullet.

Bottle. Golden beer with an off-white head. Hay and sweet malt aroma. Malt, light hay, and light grain flavor with light sweetness. Medium bodied. Easy drinking. Malt lingers with light sweetness, light grass, and light hay.

Lager yeast and corn, much like the pilsner. A little sweet. Its not bad for the style, actually quite good for a yellow lager.

Labeled on the bottle as "Simpler Times Lager." I’m tasting side-by-side with Simpler Times Pilsner to see if I can tell the diff: both 12 oz. bottles. The Lager pours pale yellow, but a little more color than the average macros, lots of bubbles and a fizzy head. Pilsner shows pretty much the same color, but a longer lasting head and finer streams of bubbles. Both a have a sweet smell of corn adjunct wrapped around the unmistakable impression of wet peanut shells. By the time I get to taste the Pilsner, it still has its head, so there is something of a difference here. Taste is less of bad beer, but still not quite actual beer. Has slightly more substance, perhaps, but still over produced and not very pleasant. Impressions of shoe polish. Just another way for Minhas to fill a hole in its production schedule and further degrade the once decent reputation of Huber. The beers from Biersch and Schell’s that Trader Joe’s actually puts its name on at least have "beerlike" qualities.

12 ounce can from Trader Joe’s in Richmond. Pours a pale yellow with a big fizzy head. Low retention and lacing. Aroma of grain and corn. Graininess and corn dominate the taste, with just a bit of grass. Medium body.

Bottle from Trader Joe’s in North Sacramento. Brassy gold color with a fizzy white head that did not last a minute. Strong grainy aroma with some grassiness. Medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor is grain, a bit of paper, and somewhat spicy hop. Much better than the macros. Definitely not a strongly hoppy beer, but it has flavor.
