We do love Imperial Café Racer. The combination of smooth espresso and Madagascan vanilla is just fabulous. However, allowing it to rest in Bourbon barrels for nine months and creating this amazing brew was definitely time very well spent!

440 ml can, small batch edition 18.1, from the brewery webshop. ABV is 9%. Pitch black colour, moderate tan head. Aroma of roast malts, bourbon, fusel alcohols, molasses, vanilla, chocolate, oak and coffee. Roasty and medium sweet flavour with the same elements as the aroma, fusel is now less distinct, moderate hops. Very tasty beer.

Black beer, brown head. Sweet aroma of boozy malt. Flavour has chocolate, toasty malt, some fruit and a pretty hefty boozy, spirits quality but without being overpowered by it. Some liquorice through it too. I'd perhaps have liked the other flavours to be a bit more dominant but this is still really good, really rich and smooth. Fierce know their way around an Imperial dark as well as anybody.

Black beer with a decent collar. Smell is malty chocolate with a strong waft of bourbon. Tastes delicious. Maltz chocolate, coffee, vanilla, caramel, bourbon. And as I've come to expect from Fierce the balance is perfect. A big, rich smooth stout with loads going on. A brilliant, warming imperial stout.

Short-lived dark tan head over black beer. Vanilla, Bourbon, sweet, vanilla cake, mocha, espresso. Sweet, Bourbon, vanilla cream, I praliné /I, chocolate, typically dessert-like. Full bodied, alcoholheat. A tad too sweet, after all, as oversugared espresso with vanillasugar. Still drinkable, however.
