Can from Hopt. Aroma is heavy on the cocoa with cherries, roasted malt, chocolate, some vanilla, more roast and chocolate, bit ashy. Flavour is pretty bitter and roasted with a moderate to medium sweetness. Body is medium to full. Roasty with chocolate and cherry, delivers as promised.

Pours black with a tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, alcohol, coffee and licorice. Taste is medium sweet and medium bitter with a long warm, roasted, coffee, chocolate and licorice finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Een keer gekocht toen ik bij De Bierschuur helemaal los ben gegaan qua pastry stouts. Moet zeggen dat ik deze al vaak in m'n kast heb laten staan, maar ik moet er nu toch aan geloven. Smaakt niet verkeerd, maar ik ben klaar met de siroopstouts.

Can. Big thanks to Paul at Two Brews, Colchester, for this gratis can. Opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Smooth palate, a little thin for the abv, reasonable fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts, a very mild dark malt creamy sweetness. A modest level of dark chocolate cake, nicely done. Mellow cherry fits in well. A little icing sugar dusting. These Bearded Ladies used to be quite something but now days I think they are very much in the shadow of the pastry revolution. Still a place for beers like this though, less sweet but still layered and very drinkable.

Can. A black one, with a finger-thick brown head leaving lacing. The aroma is on the sweet side, with some alcohol. Roasted malts, coffee and some molasses, and hints of chocolate. It's full-bodied, warming and smooth on the palate, with a nice carbonation level. Sweet flavor with chocolate, coffee, some molasses and roasted malts. Some vanilla, but can't really say the cherry side of the beer stood out. A more generic berry scent and flavor is present though. Lasting finish with a nice bitterness to balance of the sweetness. (Draught at In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 28 Feb 2020) Black colour with lasting, creamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, sour cherries and liquorice. Malty, roasted taste with dark chocolate, coffee, cherries and a generous cacao bitterness. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Really tasty, with loads of dark chocolate balanced by sour cherries and bitter coffee. Great dessert. Great beer.

330ml black can from Vinmonopolet Langnes. Lacing rings from a remaining tan-coloured head, jet black body. Attractive aromas of vanilla dessert joined by grainy chocolate, a discreet touch of smoked malts as well. Well blended taste profile of chocolate and dark berries with molasses beneath. Nicely roasted chocolate pastry to the ending, warming down the swallow. Great slow sipper. (Tromsø 20.03.2020).

Svart. Høyt lysebrunt kremaktig skum som daler sakte. Pene filigranser. Lett kaffearoma. Silkemyk munnfølelse. Smaken lakris, kaffe & skarprøstet malt. Lett mere kaffe i en tørr avslutning.
