Gold with a small white head. Dull aroma with oranges, boiled lollies, some spices. Fairly sweet with hay, lolly-like oranges and pears. Sweetness is met by moderate bitterness, some dusty spices at the dryish finish. Not terrible but rather lifeless.

50 cl. bottle. Clear, copper colour with a golden tint. Fine, thin white head. Sweet aroma with spices, light caramel malts, nuts and light herbal hops. Taste is light bitter. Medium body with a creamy texture and a lively carbonation. Finishes dry and lightly bitter with fruits, light caramel malts and a spiced note. Okay, not that exciting.

Classic English ESB with deep orange blonde colour and stable, milky head. Fruity aroma, lots of pear, some pineapple and lemon, pine resin, hazelnuts, grassy hops; malt sweetness in the mouth, fruity, elegantly evolving into a mild but resinous, herbal hop bitterness. Very well-balanced bitter, one of the best I had so far.

50cl bottle at Hartley restaurant in Dalton in Furness. Appearance - golden amber with a decent head. Nose - honey and toffee with just an annoying whiff of butterscotch. Taste - honey and cornflakes. Palate - light to medium bodied with a tangy texture and a fairly good finish. Overall - not special but inoffensive.
