On tap at TCBF, pours hazy golden yellow. Aroma and flavour of wheat, citrus, banana and something else I can't put my finger on (some odd spice). Great for Pyramid's standard.

Bottle. Cloudy orange, lowish head. Quite peach and clementine aroma, also light paintthinner. Medium body, solid, light sparkly mouthfeel. Somewhat estery fruit notes, warming alcohol, grainy wheat base. Light orangepeel yeast aftertaste. Fairly simple brew, does not quite manage to convince me.

The first hefeweizen I had. Had a murky yellow colour, foamish head, tasted lemony even though I didn’t have any lemons around. Tasted a bit funky, in fact, and I wouldn’t get around to tasting a proper hefeweizen for many years more.

2007 Bottle for $4.99. Not a German Hefeweizen in any sense of the word...Should be listed as a Wheat ale. Pours with a small white head that fades over a murky orange body. Aroma of plastic, vanilla, rotting orange, wheat and cardboard. Taste is wheat, booze, caramel cardboard, vanilla and a light, lingering bitterness. Something about the taste makes me think it taste sterile, but I don’t really even know what that translates to, it just reminds me of it. Fizzy and dry mouthfeel. Really, surprisingly and totally boring!

Bottle: Poured a cloudy dirty yellow color weizen with a small off-white head with limited retention as well as lacing. Aroma of wheat malt is dominating with some light notes of banana and cloves. Taste is again dominated by some wheat malt with some light notes of banana and cloves ester also noticeable. Body is full with some very limited filtration and average carbonation with no discernable alcohol. Interesting take on the style but somewhat cloying at the end of the day.

Bottle. Yeast, banana, wheat/barley malt aroma. Hazy amber with moderate head. Wheat malt and light alcohol flavor - light hops finish. Really not much like a Hefe - just a hoppy wheat ale.

Thanks to decaturstevo for sharing this one. Pours hazy light gold with a white head. Fruity aroma but lacking the usual Weizen aromas. Fruity flavor with a wheat bite in the finish. Not bad, but I’ve had better. My opinion is to stay with a good hefeweizen or go all the way with a wheat wine.

22 oz bottle purchased at Bottleworks, Seattle, WA. Pour is hazy orange gold, with a nice off white head and a ton of carbonation bubbles. Aroma is soft earthiness, a bit of grassy yeast and some alcohol. Taste had an immediate sharpness I wasn’t expecting - almost a graininess. Also present is citrus orange sweet hoppiness. There is a faint hint of wheat in the taste, but that’s about it. The finish is pretty long, and has some mild heat. This was decently made, just kind of dull and not at all what I was expecting. Looking back, I am bit surprised the guy at BW recommended this one.

Pours a translucent deep orange from the bottle with a frothy, off white head. Smells lemony (maybe because I garnished it with a slice of lemon), wheaty, malty, and a little yeasty. Flavor is malty, grainy with touches of caramel and banana. Finish is really smooth for a beer with extra alcohol. Overall it was a good Hef, but not spectacular.

Bottle from Hollingshead purchased for me by my gracious buddy Odeed on his recent visit; Thanks a ton Jake! Thick cloudy looking orange pour with a small, glass-lacing yellowish head; before I smell or taste this baby I see the ratings run from 2.0 to 4.1 (all over hell) Nose of light pumpkin ester, and whiffing very deeply I do pick up a faint banana note deep in the background. No alcohol shows it’s face! Nose also shows the malty caramel wheat, for a plus on my rating! Now to let the thick-appearing juice meet my variety of sensory buds; Flavor shows a little pepperiness and tartness, with some hoppy bitterness and grainy sweetness, meeting with a light alcohol burn in the finish. A totally unusual character in the guise of a hefe. Looks like a hefe, has some other monor hefe vices, now to let that second bottle age for a couple years and take a second look! Unique this succa’ is!
