Cask at the Duke William, Burslem. Pale straw in colour and slightly cloud with a tight white head; fresh citrus aroma; sweet grapefruit taste; with a strong lasting bitterness and grapefruit aftertaste. Better than the average citrus summer beer.

Cask at the Old Fountain - London. Pours perfectly clear yellow with a frothy white crown. Smells great, lots of citrus rind and grass. Light sweet flavor with heady bitterness of grapefruit, lemon rind and grass. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Grassy and lightly resinous to finish, with delicate pale malt sweetness and mild hay. The bitterness is a touch abrasive, but aside from that it’s nice.

Hand-pulled pint in the excellent ’Rib of Beef’ in Norwich on 20 Apr 2013. This is one of those beers I currently have a problem with: I am fed up to the teeth with golden, light brews with a strong citrus aroma and taste. I should have known what I was ordering I suppose, Oakham have a few of these style of beers. Not for me, but others love this now common style of beer in the UK. Refreshing and thirst quenching it is, malty and harty it isn’t. Anyway, scored objectively.

Cask at the Sussex Arms, Twickenham Green, 13/04/13. Clear golden with a thin white head that clears to a film. Nose is caramel malt, citrus, sugar, hops, perfume notes. Taste comprises orange, citrus, hops, light mango, some malt presence. MEdium bodied, moderate carbonation, light hop bitterness in the finish. Easy drinking stuff but not one of Oakham’s best efforts!

Cask at Tap East. It pours clear straw yellow, with a latge white head. The nose is lemon, nectarine, peach and hay. The taste is hay, straw, grapefruit, leaf, citrus peel and peach, with a big bitter finish. Light-medium body and soft carbonation. Really flavoursome for this ABV.
