Citra & Sabro DDH New England Pale

The smell of freshly cut grass. Excitement in the air. Long stretches of sunlight in the evening. Fresh laundry drying on the line. The carnival comes to town.

Saratoga Springs is all about that thirst quenching next sip. Sabro & Citra hops alongside London Ale yeast give this DDH pale a fresh spin. Tropical coconut aromas with a bone dry finish, Saratoga Springs is an altogether cleaner & zestier DDH pale than some of its hazy siblings.

The label for Saratoga Springs is a photograph taken at Disneyland Tokyo by Sienna. Evoking long balmy summer nights, Saratoga Springs also delivers an ever-so-slightly unsettling hint of the uncanny.

Clear pale milky yellowish beer, practically no head. Aroma: very sweet impression, dank, tropical fruits, citrus notes, some grapefruit. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: lots of citrus, grapefruit, soft bitterness, lemony, lovely stuff. Aftertaste: lots of lemon, grapefruit, nice bitterness, bit grassy.

Can, 5.8%. Citrus and grass in the aroma and flavor. Malty sweetish, Hint of lactose. Seems like a 13-in-a-dozen NEIPA. Still not too sweet and decent enough.

Can from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a hazy golden straw colour with a short-lived bubbly white head. The aroma is grainy malt, big zesty tropical citrus fruits, mango, pineapple. The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet, with a clean, fresh, light mineral, juicy citrus, light floral, light pepper spice, dry hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.

Keg @ Experiment, Hackney. Cloudy yellow-amber with a head. Its strength is evident but oaty-hoppy-fruity flavours still dominate.

On tap at The Experiment, Hackney, London. A hazy golden/yellow coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Lemon, pineapple, coconut, stone/tropical fruit aroma and taste. Really like the sabro hop, could drink this pale ale all day long.

Can. Hazy gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Smooth malts, a pleasing light creamy sweetness. Soft piney orange. Touches of lemon and tangerine. Light finish. Yeah, put me in some stuffy function and offer me this on tap, I would be happy as Larry, because I know * could happily quaff a considerable amount of this without saying what I really felt about anybody at said stuffy function.

Can from Lupe Pintos. Hazy golden body with a thin white head. No visible carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of Thai basil, lime chutney and starfruit. Flavour of Thai basil, lemon sponge and salted grapefruit. Medium body with a smooth mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Really flavoursome and unique.
