We'd long been discussing about getting a brew together with the lovely chaps at Affinity when the idea for this one came along. We've brewed up this solid Gose, all tart and salty and full of coriander. Into this, we added tart gooseberry, and some smooth, sweet pear to level it out. Then Ben at Affinity gave it a terrible/wonderful name. Enjoy

440ml can. Almost clear golden, white head. Aroma of pear drops, coriander. Taste has loads of pear drops, coriander spice, gooseberry is a bit subtle, sweet, sour, salty. Medium body.

Can from Left Field Beer, Solihull. Sweet sugary pear aroma, with a tart gooseberry edge. Remind me of Peter flavour drinks from Finland when I was a kid. Hazy gold. Frothy translucent white head. Medium-heavy sour. Tart gooseberry, of course. Despite being do prominent in the aroma the pear is far less assertive in the taste. It's in there but as a presence rather than putting a foot forward. Slight spiced salty edge. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Average carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. Refreshing.

Pours unclear yellow. Smell is pear, intense, tad lemontartness. Taste is full, lactic acid, rather than lemon sourness. Pear is clearly prominent, finished of by a salty touch. Bit malty in the late finish. Does all you'd expect, but doesnt really surprise beyond that.

Draught Thick, just off-white head over fully hazy orange-yellow beer. Putteke! OK for a gueuze - but for a Gose? Lots of fruity esters, but because of the former, all nearly rotting fruit. More fruit, sweeter, with a strange sweet, almondy overtone. Faint lactic acid, but giving a serious sour impression. Refreshing, light, acidburn, very carbonated. Initial nose is awful. Rest is better, fortunately.

Can. Very hazy gold beer,.small bubbly cream colour head. Light palate, mildly dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Thin malts, about what you would expect. Good savoury tang mixes well with the obvious gooseberry tartness. A little sweeter pear on the back end. My wife spotted some bubblegum esters, and once she had, I could taste them too. Thanks wifey! Nice Gose, bright, tart and savoury. Very cute can artwork too boot. Would have added. photo if Ratebeer wasn't broken again.
