Savor the season of sharing. Brewed with roasted specialty malts and a robust blend of spices, then aged in bourbon barrels for at least six months, Bourbon Barrel Adoration celebrates the Belgian tradition of spiced Noël ales.

This beer pours a deep mahogany with a dense tan head. Aromas of coconut and chocolate are followed by subtle notes of vanilla, caramel, and spice, with hints of oak and bourbon. Barrel aging tames the assertive spicing and leads to delightful drinkability.

Bottle. A- Caramel, raisins, fruit cake. A- Mahogany color, clear liquid, beige head. T- Caramel, gummy, mild Christmas spice, alcohol. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Really quite nice. The barrel doesn't impose too much and the spice is subtle. Sort of delicate at the beginning while it's cooler but the alcohol really picks up as it warms.

Backlog. Pours amber brown and smells of caramel malt, dark fruit, spicy yeast, and bourbon. The flavor is sweet with caramel and bourbon the most prominent followed by Belgian yeast. This is delicious.

Ommegang has the Belgian ale thing down pretty good in my experience. And now here is Adoration aged in bourbon barrels obtained from a Total Wine in Ft. Worth. My expectations are fairly large for this 12.7% abv-as-labeled brew. Tonight I have out my Cowtown snifter to use and and it gets a pour from the 12 oz bottle. I see a dark, opaque, copper brown body with a consistent cover of eggshell brown foam. The nose is inviting, candied dark fruit, booze and grain. I take a drink, wow, easily better than the scent. Fruit cake, dates, toffee, bourbon, some woodiness, malt and a nice sweetness. A lot going on here.

The Aromas are dark malt, caramel, toffee and hints of raisins and molasses. Don't pick up any Whiskey in the aroma. Flavors are like nose sweet up front with some growing bitterness towards the end. Whiskey comes in a good way. Body and carbonation are okay. Decent beer.

Sampled from the tap at First Draft Minneapolis. Pours a clear copper amber with an off white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of bourbon and booze with dark fruits, dates and sweet grains underlying. Flavor is boozy with bourbon and has a combination of Belgian candied sugar, dates and raisins underlying.

Bottle at 11.5% (2019 edition) from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours slightly unclear ruddy brown with a tan head. Aroma of sweetish dark fruit, bourbon, vanilla, roasty malt, and spice notes. Full bodied. Flavor is date/fig, bourbon, spice and some wood astringency. There's a mild burn - might be heat/might be hop - but I'll plump for heat. The fig seems to have turned towards raisin. It is delicious.
