KBS gets its coffee fix in the very first variant to come from our beloved bourbon barrel-aged stout. Yes, KBS may already be brewed with coffee, but it gets some extra oomph when it’s aged on espresso beans after being removed from barrels. The result is a fresh and snappy coffee twist on our classic barrel-aged beer. Who says you can’t start your day with a barrel-aged stout?

Bottled 355ml. -at Goblet Zagreb, shared with hrabren. Pitch black coloured, small cappucchino head, coffee and light barrel in the nose. Light roasted malt, coffee, chocolatenotes of barrel and alcohol with dry finish.

0.355 l bottle shared with Ogi at Goblet Beer Store, Zagreb. Oily black, small beige head. Roasty and coffee flavour, not the freshest coffee. Spices, licorice, soft molasses. Smooth, roasty, biscuity, coffee flavour. Wonderful roasty profile. Heavy, serious. Oily, smooth. Alcohol present. Roasty, nutty, biscuity dry finish.

Servida y disfrutada en schnifter, color negro, totalmente opaca, espuma marrón claro que se forma preciosa y se desvanece en unos minutos. En nariz un aluvión de cacao, chocolate negro, vainilla, café expreso, pan quemado, ceniza... En boca es robusta, cálida, profunda, sedosa, compleja, rica en matices dulces, amargos, torrefactos y licorosos. Cada sorbo inunda el paladar de sabor, el posgusto es larguísimo. Para disfrutar lentamente, muy placentera.

355 ml, bottled 04/23/20. Black body, with a small, creamy, tan head. Aroma with loads of freshly grinded coffee, dark chocolate, toffee, liquorice, moderate bourbon barrel, some tobacco, slight vanilla. Tastes similar. Full, creamy mouthfeel. Finishes warm, smooth, medium roasty, medium sweet, a bit wooden, with coffee, dark chocolate, slight tobacco. I love this, exactly my taste! Loads of perfectly integrated coffee and exceptionally balanced, with just enough bourbon barrel for more complexity. Beautiful smooth, creamy character. Not boozy at all, but with a very pleasant warmth to it. Score: 9 / 4 / 9 / 5 / 17

Bottle @ home. Well stored bottle from 2020. Black body under a small but dense beige head. Strong aroma of dark malt, distinct coffee, chocolate, dry fruit, vanilla and alcohol. Taste is as expected from aroma, solid with dark malt, roasted coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla, dry fruit, balanced bitterness and warming alcohol. Full bodied with long lasting aftertaste. Warming alcohol. Very nice coffee stout.
