Trying is a must. Clothing is optional.
Paying homage to a rather (in)famous surf spot/clothing-optional beach in San Diego, Nelson the Greeter is the newest hoppy offering from Port Brewing. Using the brash flavors of Nelson hops to lead the charge, the Greeter has a strong hop supporting cast using Denali, Lemon Drop, and Mosaic varietals to round out this India Pale Ale.
Notes of gooseberry and passionfruit dominate the nose with clean tangerine and freshly cut stone fruit notes leading to a smooth bitter citrus finish.
HOPS: Nelson, Denali, Lemon Drop, Mosaic

Can 16oz (Beergium, no BB date)
Slightly hazy orange colour, small steady white head. Grassy, citrusy aroma. Light to medium-bodied. Pale malts, citrus, bisquity notes. Fruityness but more like grapefruityness than typical Nelson Sauvin Kiwi-notes. Easy, citrusy, doesn't feel old.

Can picked up at Kihoskh, shared at home with the Mrs - golden pour with a white head and lacing. Medium sweet fruity and malty with notes of peach, grapefruit, squeeze of satsuma, sweet malty backing, hoppy bitter finish.

Can. Hazy yellow - cold beer, good pile cream colour head. Airy palate semi dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Thin malts, dry, not that sweet. Thin yellow grapefruit, spicy grapefruit. Light tang. Semi dry finish leaves a yellow grapefruit linger. Decently grapefruit, but where is the classic Nelson character?

Part of a flight in the Stadium Brewery, Aliso Viejo, California on 15th Dec 2017. Misty golden pour, wispy topping. Delicate hop nature with a slight citrus leaning, some would call the flavours 'subtle', less enlightened would say it was 'bland'. I had been drinking some heavy hitters before this arrived, so my taste buds struggled to pick up the niceties of this brew: scored objectively.
