Paying homage to a rather (in)famous surf spot/clothing-optional beach in San Diego, Nelson the Greeter is the newest hoppy offering from Port Brewing. Using the brash flavors of Nelson hops to lead the charge, the Greeter has a strong hop supporting cast using Denali, Lemon Drop, and Mosaic varietals to round out this India Pale Ale.
Notes of gooseberry and passionfruit dominate the nose with clean tangerine and freshly cut stone fruit notes leading to a smooth bitter citrus finish.

16 ounce can. Pours a clear orange hue with a medium white head. A big citrus biscuit nose. Sweet sticky hops, oranges, some mild bitterness, toast. Very smooth. Nice IPA.

pint can via trade, thanks Arturo. @ Sebletitje post-Vini, Birre, Ribelli 2017. Freshest by 01/25/2018. Dorée, léger trouble, col blanc. Arôme au bouquet classique, bien houblonné dans un style typique de côte ouest US avec le petit côté Nelson, frais fruité, agrumes. Palais est malté p$ale, plein de belles notes houblonnées, agrumes, presque dans un rappel c-hops avec un petit fini de Nelson - raisin blanc subtil, finement herbacé.

Thanks to Sebletitje! 473 ml. can sampled @ Sebletitje post-“Vini, Birre, Ribelli 2017” dinner. Orange hazy. Nose is lovely dank citrus hops, fresh. Taste is tasty juicy citrus, dank, white grape, zest, lovely. Hazy. Very nice.

Clear blond beer, creamy irregular white head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: lots of dank fresh hops, tropical fruits. MF: lively carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty bitter, nice stuff, dry, bit spicy, some citrus, touch of grapefruit. Aftertaste: pretty hoppy, citrus, bitter, little grassy, very bitter finish.

Pours rather unclear yellowblonde, no real head. Smell is bit weak, mild grassy hoppybfeatures. Taste is full, bit bitter, bery mimd hoparoma. Decent.

Can 1 pint. Pours golden with a slight haze and a dense and lacing white head with good retention. Dank, citrusy aroma. Medium body, super dry fruitiness with a long and bitter finish. Verydecent high alpha IPA. 221117

Surprisingly bitter for a Nelson Sauvin showcase beer, full of intense piney, almost medicinal hop notes on the back end. Some fruitiness on the front, with a bright dry chardonnay spark and modest lemon notes, while the malts offer up mild hints of cracker and grain. Finishes with a prolonged bitterness that seems outsized for such a light IPA. Pours a straw yellow with a thin white head and moderate lace. Subdued aroma, hints of white wine and grain but very faint. Good texture, but otherwise an underwhelming pint.

Pour is a hazy blonde with a large white head. Aroma is some minor tropical fruit with a large green grape and a slight pine. Flavor is more green grape with some green onion and a huge bitterness after the swallow. This was a decent one hop beer but the huge bitterness got to be a drag after a while.
