Barrel aged imperial porter brewed with eight different grains and Bramling Cross hops. The recipe for this strong porter was devised to create complex notes of chocolate, burnt caramel and stone fruit. After fermentation, it was matured in Amarone barrels, which allowed these flavours to mellow and contributed additional touches of raisin & vanilla.

Semi opaque dark brown beer, decent pale tan head. Smooth and semi dry palate, light fine carbonation. Mellow dark malts, a mild tang and a semi sweet dark chocolate. Modest tangy fruits. Some red wine tang and very mild woody barrel on the finish. Pleasant but timid.

Bottle at home from Grumpy Goat, 20th April 18. Pours black, not much head a little rim. Aroma is vineous, chocolate. Taste is barrel, vinous notes, dark chocolate, wood, wow the Amorone really comes through, extremely well integrated barrel beer. Excellent.

26th March 2018; Shrewsbury Beer Exchange Group in Chez Sophie. 330ml bottle; BBD 27th Feb 2020. Cheers Mike for this offering. Slight haze to the dark brown pour, deep head of tanned foam. Interesting aroma and flavour, light vanilla and wine like esters in the nose alongside the maltiness. The taste is mostly malt based with some chocolate notes to the fore, mild vanilla traces too. Liked it.

330ml bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, March 18. Thanks to Mike for this. Pours hazy deep brown, good tan head. aroma has rosy wine, chocolate, vanilla perhaps. Smooth on the palate with wonderfully balanced flavours. Milk chocolate, vanilla and well-integrated fruity amarone combine for a full-bodied, exceptional beer.
