Cask @ Manchester & County, Manchester. Golden with a bubbly head. Has a pale malt character, fairly smooth and fair within its own style, with a bubble-gum sweetness evident.

Golden colour with thin creamy head. Aroma and flavour certainly encapsulate the spicy Belgian yeast and pale dried fruit associated with Het Anker. Lots of dryness in the finish. It feels very strong for only 5%. Very interesting to have these flavours running through the texture of a smooth, cool (not cold) cask ale. A disharmonious marriage that just about works.

Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Gold with a moderate foamy white head and a light fizz. Foam banana sweets dominate at first, with wheaty notes and a touch of lemon coming through. Sweet, although there is a little dusty bitterness at the end. Definitely Belgian in character! Nice to have something a bit different to an APA as a ’Spoons collab, just a shame it’s a distinctly average interpretation of the style. Did grow on me a bit by the end though.

Cask-conditioned at the WG Grace, Bristol 15/12/2016. Slightly hazy gold, with a small, white, head. Stone fruits, light, grainy, malts, Belgian yeast character and a gentle finish. Enjoyable.

Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading. A straw coloured pour with a thin white head; aroma of cloves and Belgian yeast; crisp in the mouth and full of cereal grains - full bodied and slightly sour; then a gently spicy finish with a gingery heat. Very good.

Cask at the Chequers Inn, Stourbridge. Pours light hazy gold with a small head. Aroma is milky, nutty yeast. Taste is the same, very milky. Nutty yeast in the finish. Very Leffe-esque.

Half pint @ Montgomery’s Tower, Shrewsbury. Pours hazy blonde, confident white head. Aroma bears some sweet yeasty notes. Taste is familiar Belgian blonde yeast, soft and sweet but something amiss. Seems to lack the strength a Belgian blonde should have? Still, decent.
