Bottle, from historic notes. Source was a Christmas gift pack from a local supermarket. Poured dark gold with a slightly foamy off-white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, fruit, minimal hops and something oddly musty. Disappointing.

16 year old 330ml bottle @ MTG II tasting, courtesy of Mike Landlocked. Many thanks for this dusty relic. Pours amber, thin white head. Aroma is oxidised malts, caramel, cobwebs. Had a good innings this bottle, but it’s reached its time tonight.

Cask @ The Albert, Hebden Bridge. Clear caramel-gold in colour with a creamy head. Has a malt-hop fusion, perhaps slightly more of the former, but there is a English fruitiness about its character.

A 1997 bottle at 6.5% abv. Cloudy brown beer. Sweet malty caramel with a lingering sweet aftertaste. Hardly a trace of hop. Has survived well and was quite drinkable.

Cask conditioned handpull at The Bell, Worcester. Copper colour, thin lasting beige head. It’s a slightly sweet ESB. Some biscuit malt. No great hop. Sweetish and a bit too sweet. Bit of Wychwood fart yeast on aroma.

Nice golden tan coloured body with a copper glow and a thinnish white head. Aroma of fresh hops, a light malt and a bit of caramel. Nice mild malty flavour with a twang of citrus and caramel, tucked into a subtle hop flavour - all with a touch of alcohol. Aftertaste shows a mild maltiness with some sweetness at the end. Overall, a good beer - fairly light, but showing nicely! I sampled this beer on draught at Exmouth Arms in North London, England on 29-November-2008.
