29 June 2019. At Cambrinus, Bruges. Cheers to the family! Pours hazy ochre-golden with a slowly thinning, frothy, off-white head. Aroma of perfume, rose water, ripe orange, pepper, honey, brioche, toasted white bread, garden herbs - chamomile perhaps? Taste is light to medium malty sweet, bready & brioche-like, ripe fruit notes of bannaa & orange going over bitter accents of pepper, herbs & tea leaves with some honey & perfume in the back. Dryish, floral hoppy finish, lingering ripe fruit, perfume, rather weird herbal effect again. Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. A bit weird yet still mildly promising, but unconvincing in the end.

One of the first beers from this new microbrewery in Damme, steinie bottle from Drinks 4 U in Deinze (on my way back to Ghent from Bierhalle Deconinck…). Thick and foamy, tightly membrane-lacing, egg-white, very stable head, initially clear orangey peach blonde robe with lively sparkling, turning misty with sediment as it ought to be. Aroma of cooked carrots, pumpkin soup, wet straw, sweetbread, banana, pear, pan-fried potato slices, coriander seed, dried thyme, parsnip, a touch of iron and a background whiff of DMS (overcooked cauliflower). Sweet, fruity onset, peachy and pineapple-like esteriness with some banana and pear as well, fizzy carb but okay for style. Rounded, fluffy mouthfeel, soft bready malt sweetishness with a light caramelly side to it, even a tad peanutty; phenolic and estery yeasty finish, bit spicy with a mellow floral hop bitter tail and lingering bready-yeasty earthiness as well as (too much) unfermented sugariness. Drinkable and not all bad for a first commercial attempt, but very cliché in this country’s portfolio and not entirely free of slight technical errors.

15th May 2018, back garden area of the Bier Paleis, Brugge. Lovely sunny afternoon, lovely 33cl bottle of this. Misty amber pour, off-white topping. The nose had a light yeasty base on which some mild fruity esters danced around, taste also yeasty and fruity, some maltiness creeps in also.

4/II/18 - sample @ Brugs Bierfestival - BB: n/a (2018-131) Thanks to 77ships for sharing the last beers of the festival!

Cloudy orange to light amber beer, big creamy irregular off-white head, pretty stable, bit adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: overripe to rotten fruits, something off, bit sourish, fermenting fruits, infected maybe? MF: soft carbon, medium to light body. Taste: pretty acidic, astringent, rotting fruits, sourish, unpleasant bitterness, some pineapple. Aftertaste: sourish and dirty. Almost sure this beer was infected, a shame I can't remember though if it was on draft or from the bottle. Although the type of infection would point more towards a slow infection, rather than an infection of the tap lines, from my personal experience.

Hazy medium amber colour, small but steady frothy off-white head, light lacing. Aroma sweet malts, peach, apricot, light lemon, yeast, caramel. Smooth taste, light heavy sweet and medium bitter, malty, fruity, yeast, grainy, spicy notes, alcohol. Sweetbitter aftertaste, grainy, earthy notes, bit astringent, medium body, oily texture, average carbonation, not bad but also nothing special.
