Nose of ash, chalk, dark fruit and a touch of chocolate. A light tan head on a black body. Taste has several levels and elements. Caramel, burnt butter, dark chocolate, citrus hops, brown sugar, dark berries and plums are well blended. Starts out relatively sweet but ends with a dry sustaining flavour. Relatively dense for a porter. Medium body with slightly more carbonation than most dark Abstrakts. Stays relatively clean to the end as a porter should. Sterling.

Shared with a mate cos, well, it's powerful stuff, and ... Boom! By eck, that’s summat - sherry on the nose, oily mouthfeel with sweet malt, hints of chocolate, a touch of coffee and an alcohol kick

(Bottle) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with caramel, sweet espresso, chocolate, brown sugar and cinnamon. Malty, roasted, sweet taste with notes of sweet espresso, caramel, toffee, chocolate, brown sugar, cinnamon, bourbon, vanilla and a balanced coffee bitterness in a finish with a slight alcohol burn. Full body, sweet. Possibly a touch too sweet, but really rich and tasty. Very nice.

375mL bottle at BrewDog Brighton, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out lots of bitter coffee, earthy notes, and burnt dark sugars. Flavour is intense, with intense bitter coffee, earthiness, burnt dark sugars, and roast. Quite bitter, quite burnt, but a nice palate. Very good.

Draught@TCBW2018. Pitch black colour, mediumsized creamy beigeish brown head. Aroma is dried fruits, some roast as well as mild smoked and alcohol notes Flavour is roasted, some smoked, dried fruits, wood as well as some alcohol and mild fudgelike sweetness. Quite a boozy brew.

Bottle from the brewery online shop. Pours black with a thin tan head. Aromas of coffee, chocolate and muscavado sugar. Taste is more of the same. Not too boozy. Sweet finish.

Bottle. Citric chocolate aroma. Almost black colour. Seems clear. Small frothy dark brown head. The flavour has a good non-bitter chocolate and coffee note. Late warming alcohol. Distinct coffee aftertaste. Also, the bitterness arrives in the aftertaste. Spicy sugar notes in the middle. Late woody notes. Not vanilla notes like many other barrel aged beers, but just wood.
