The inspiration for this dark and mysterious collaboration with Dugges is an old Gothenburg Porter; our recipe is loosely based on historical malt bills. There’s also a modern touch, with a hint of peated malt and a nice alcohol backbone to really layer up the roasty flavours. In Scandinavian folklore, Draugen is the ghost of a sailor, now often associated with anything dark or mysterious about the sea.

330 ml. bottle @ Beerlovers Bar. Black, creamy tanned mocha head. Smoke in the nose is bit too plastic, smoked gravy, almost wet dough. Too plastic smoked, syrup, burned plastic, umami, syrupy, alcoholic,… Too plastic smoke heavy no balance, okay but expected a lot more.

Thnx to eugene ! Pours dark, unclezr brown. Small white head. Stable and creamy. Some minor lacing. Smell is dark, aromatic malty, just a touch of smoke. Taste is full, sharp, bit bitter. Very mild smoke.

Tap at ZCBW 2017. Pitch black body with an off white head. Full dark malts aroma, chocolate, light alcohol, some citric touches, simply excellent. Heavy nutty malty taste, smoked notes are well integrated, light dark chocolate rounds everything up and then is joined by some berry. Surprisingly balanced. Excellent stuff. And so expensive.

Brewdog Sheps Bush. Keg. Almost clear reddish amber - brown beer, small tan head. Palate is quite light, smooth and fairly dry. Reasonable fine minerally carbonation. Thin dry dark malts, bitterish. Bitter spice and bitter esters. Dry and bitter finish. Mmm, thin and dry but rich tasting.

Bottle sourced from the brewery. Pours black with a dissipating beige head. Aromas of dark chocolate, dark fruits, spices, very light smoke. Taste is semi sweet, bitter, earthy roast malts, light spice. Medium body, fine carb, very dry and bitter finish. Far from my favourite Siren beer
