Light peat, full bodied

A lightly hazed reddish copper ale with a thin lacing off white head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with dark fruits, licorice, light grassy hops, treacle, alcohol warmth, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity caramel malt with dark fruits and light peated notes, alcohol warmth, light bourbon barrel, pleasant and smooth. On tap at brewery.

En fût au 15e anniversaire/Zwanze Day de DDC, sous le nom Quintessence XV. Couleur brune très foncée, peu de mousse beige. Arôme de mélasse, boisée, caramel foncé, café. Goût de mélasse, très sucré, caramel brûlé, boisé et alcool en fin de bouche. Carbonation moyenne-faible, corps dense, collante.

A dark burgundy red brown ale with a thin off white head. A pleasant blend of caramel and maple aroma, alcohol, musty notes. In mouth, a superbly attenuated mix of malts, licorice, treacle, rich and maltey. An intriguing and complex ale. Bottle of Quintessence X at DDC 12th Anniversary, Sept. 11 2010.

[2 year old bottle at RBSG 2005] An unclear dark amber beer with a disappearing beige head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of wood, alcohol, and berries - a really powerful aroma. The flavor is very powerful with notes of alcohol, wood, and berries, leading to a dry alcoholic finish. The alcohol is so strong, that it burns my stomach. The body is very powerful and it is very well aged.
