Clear well carbonated copper body with thin head that disappears quickly. Soft skanky grain aroma, supposed to be maple syrup in here but I don’t smell it. Flavour is a rough mess of smoky malts with a sharp woody end. No sweetness to balance it out and mouthfeel is thin. Not impressed by this one.

Bouteille 750ml.

Originally rated February 2005. Pours a hazy beige-amber colour with a good head and nice lace. This being a Cheval Blanc beer, smells like their usual, on the lees or something like that. Scent reminds me of Blanche de Chambly from Unibroue. The taste though is quite interesting. Like a blanche, with the hint of maple syrup. Very smooth and pleasant. In the same vain as Choune Maple, very good.

Light hazy gold with a sweet maple cream aroma. Taste like a blanche where you dunked maple cookies. Medium bodied. Interesting and very Québécois.

Pourred a dark brown brew with a reasonable haed that stayed for a short while. Usual Cheval Blanc malt taste with a small maple syrup touch in the background. A little bit of smoke. Not too bad and A+ for trying to do something different.

Re-rate: Murky brown appearance. Heavy maple syrup aroma to the point where all else is hard to find. Big maple flavour, fairly sweet. Different, interesting, but a little lacking in the beer component.

Tan-coloured strong ale made with maple syrup and smoked malt. These flavours are a little more subtle than I would hope for, though the maple does show in the sappy finish. Overall, this is a yeasty, malty ale. Ar 6 Ap 2 F 6 P 3 O 12
