Dark brown with a ring beige head. Aroma of oak, oxidized notes, caramel, cocoa powder and vegetal notes. Flavour is heavy sweet and moderate to heavy bitter. Full bodied with soft carbonation.

Kersenschilletjes. Had hem wat dikker verwacht.

Bottle picked up from Dranken Geers, Oostakker nr Gent, Belgium and consumed at home Attenkirchen, Thursday 23rd May 2019 listening to Huw Stevens standing in for Steve Lamaq on Round Table on 6 Music. Pours very dark brown with a light beige head. Aroma is clearly sherry, woody, but also a little beef stock. Thick in the mouth, a tingly tongue from the abv, a tangy dark dried fruit edge offers a good balance to the sweetness. I like this, some boozy fumes come back down the nose. Good.

Opaque dark brown beer, big pale tan head. Airy dry palate, good fine carbonation. Relatively thin dark malts, spicy liquorice. Traces or toffee and caramel. Very light sherry vibe. Light dry finish. Spicy liquorice linger. Tasty but wanted more.

Tasting at SF, Vancouver; 16/03/2021
Black color. Mild booze aroma, then the glue smell of the base beer comes out. Less carbonated, softer mouthfeel, the alcohol is as present, the liquorice is stronger, some roasted malt.
Not very cohesive.

375mL bottle, pours black with a large tan head. Nose is heavy on the sherry barrels, with a fairly harsh boozy character and medium roasted malt. Flavour is fairly harsh as well, with boozy sherry barrels, medium roast, and some burnt character. Not exactly elegant, but I do enjoy the liqueur character in its robustness. The more it warms, the more its depth shines through. Very nice stuff.
