(Brewed for the "Metro" supermarket chain); In an abbey great and towery, lived brothers talented in brewery. Ale this heavenly, alas!, led to drinkery...and now its rediscovery! Can you resist temptation?

Bouteille 341ml.

Originally rated June 2005. This special Unibroue ale is only sold in Métro stores, in Quebec. It pours a hazy golden-beige colour with a big creamy white head. Aromas are spicy and yeasty like most Unibroue’s, with a good sweetness. The taste is also very spicy with a smooth finish. Mild apple/orange aftertaste. Nothing too crazy, but very nice on a day like today, where I am sweating like a goat in heat. A very refreshing Belgian-style ale.

Fresh 2005, 330mL bottle from Metro Joanette, drunk some time in the late Summer of 2005
Initially large, white head is quite creamy/dense and falls to cover slowly, leaving moderate lacing. Not really blonde, but darker than that with a strong brass tint to it. Clear, leaving some sediment behind.
Cake icing, vanillin and maybe a touch of DMS are blotted out by sweet pale malt sugars and plentiful peach and apricot esters that transition in to perfumey, somewhat sharp alcohol vapors. Pretty typical Unibroue blonde ale, without any overt spicing, however and with probably too much sweetness, however, as suggested by the nose.
Extremely fruity, and yet with a sweet body and almost slippery texture that only gains some dryness on the finish, thanks to the moderate alcohol warmth. Spicy phenols build up as well, but the malt is enjoyable enough and gives substance to the beer, while the alcohol, phenols and wheat, though certainly not very cohesive or subtle, add some redeeming complexity. After it has warmed fully, pepper, alcohol and clove burn the nostrils and palate somewhat.

(Bottle 34,1 cl) Pale pilsener golden with a creamy, off-white head. The aroma is mainly yeasty with a touch of alcohol. Lightly sweetish, malty character with a bit too heavy carbonation (it is Unibroue after all...). But they forgot the hops completely. Not bad, just bland. 270106

Bottled. Cloudy golden, brief head. Restrained estery aroma. Dryish and lively with a vague hint of almonds. Typical Unibroue beer.

[At Fete de la Biere 2004, Lausanne] A hazy pale yellow beer with a fine lasting white head. The aroma is faintly sweet with notes of coriander. The flavor is very sweet malty with notes of yeast, coriander, and something I can’t put a name on.

Hazy golden color, beautiful creamy head. Malty aroma, spicy; light sweet orange and tangerine; somehow more round than other Unibroue's examples. Unfortunately the body is really poor; dry and lightly tart in the beginning; the final as well is too simple.

Hazy blond. Some biscuity notes and fading earthiness. Lots of yeast, but slight of body and palate. Doesn't even live up to Kamouraska standards, let alone the impeccable St-Hubert. A reprise of that recipe would have been a good idea.

Cloudy golden colour with a thick white head. A slight appley aroma with no hops nor malt. Ver light beer, and not great. Even worse than the noir, but great to try! Aftertaste almost completely bland, and nothing strong going on! I sampled this beer at Joey_Capps' on 13-September-2003 in Hamilton, Ontario.
