650 ml bottle. Pours a dark mahogany/red with little head. Aromas of biscuit and toasted malt. Flavors of malts, light caramel, light vegetable, and toast, plus a little butter and nuttiness. Not bad, but not impressive.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver, 7.5% ABV
Dark brown color; small creamy head. Light caramel aroma. Caramel flavor, a bit nutty and breadish, with some dirty water and light residual sweetness. Correct bitterness, with a very light final acidity from the dark malts. Easy.

650mL bottle, pours dark amber with a tiny head. Aroma of caramel malts, vanilla, maple and cloying sweetness. Flavour is caramel malt heavy, with the maple sugar and vanilla coming through as well. Woody and peaty finish. Quite decent.

Nice dark amber body but it has very little head. The aroma is smoked malts, very meaty, like smelling sausage. The aroma is a strong maltiness with a bit of barley backing it up, but the palate is a little off. Certainly not exceptional, but also certainly a drinkable watered-down version of a scottish ale.

Tampa Tuesday tasting night – blind tasting, courtesy of Degarth. My first BC beer rating. It sure took a long time to get one.

Pours kind of brown-ish with tan head. The aroma is light consisting of mild earthiness and not much else. Try as I might I get very little in the aroma. The taste is much bolder than the nose with solid earthiness, faint peat and a nice backbone of caramel goodness. Nice flavor.

Dark, clear, cherry-brown colour. The aroma is woody, smoky, and toffeeish. Moderate body. The flavour has a toffee accent with earthy, woody notes supplied by a respectable amount of hopping. Good to see as far as I’m concerned because I prefer my malty beers to have some hop balance. Hints of nuts and chocolate. Slight warming in the finish. Nice effort - one of the best beer’s GI has ever made.

Starts nice with a peaty, whisky nose and contains some nice rich malty flavour, but overall is too lightbodied for the style. I thought this was there crappiest seasonal so far
