La Péché Termopilas is an imperial stout, brewed with the coffee of the same name! Lighter roasting reduces roasted flavors, leaving room for nutty notes in this coffee. The acidity is also slightly more marked than in the classic Peche Mortel. This beer was born at our brewery in Saint-Jérôme in December 2016.

Way too much coffee in this one like a late night detective shift. The roast and caramel is lost here. Pours black with decent head and lacing. Bittersweet finish. Tap at Peche day at Churchkey.

Keg @ BBB. Pitch black pour with a small creamy mocha head. Roasty chocolaty coffee nose with unroasted coffee cherries, light black currant & plenty of roasted malts. Sweet, bitter & roasty taste. Soft, round, slightly roasty astringent & velvety mouthfeel. Soft chocolaty fruity coffee. Very nice! --- Beer merged from original tick of Péché Termopilas on 11 Mar 2017 at 15:24 - Score: 8. On tap. Pours black with full nitro head. Aromas of ashy roasted malts muted by nitro. Flavors of creamy dark chocolate, fresh ground coffee, sweet vanilla and soft roasted malts. Sight acidic aftertaste from the coffee, but still very nice. Would be great to try the non nitro.

Keg at L’Autre Oeil, Aylmer. Perfectly black with rich creamy head. Distinct espresso aroma. Sweet with full body and dense, well rounded mouthfeel. Creamy with lots of espresso, some dark chocolate and licorice. Long bitter finish. Intense, yet harmonious.

Tap at Péché Day 2017. Pitch black with a, creamy beige foam that is long lasting. Aroma and taste of smooth, rich, nutty coffee, a bit of dark fruits. A little bit more toasted and smooth than regular version, but in all quite similar. Creamy texture and smooth roasted, chocolate finish. Beautiful.

Draft glass @ Chez Moeder Lambic Fontainas during Péché Mortel Day. Black, creamy big mocha bubbles. Nose is coffee to the max, huge coffee with no real bitterness, sweet coffee beans with soma cacao & basic chocolate syrup. Taste is chocolate syrup with basic hazelnut, coffee is still there, sweet round, light touch less extreme than in the nose, low coffee ground. Body is chocolate syrup, more coffee than you can shake a stick at. More basic in profile than expected, bit too simple for its own good but a nice beer.

Draught at Steel Toad, Vancouver; 250ml
Black color with nitro creamy beige head. Nice, delicate coffee aroma. Silky roasted malts dancing on the tongue with dark Belgian chocolate and a dash of boutique coffee, then embracing the qualities of the hops for a moderately resiny final, extremely long. Creamy, almost milky. Coffee truffle. Good body strength, with moderate sweetness, freshness.
Elegant beer, wonderful.
