A Christmas classic in the Ottawa/Gatineau area. A thin tan head on a black body. The nose is a festival, featuring cloves, ginger, malt and a hint of nutmeg. The taste profile features rich seasonal tastes, including anise, ginger, cloves, orange peel and slightly roasted malt. The body is appropriately thick and rich but the taste is clean and not cloying. A great Belgian xmas offering

Huge aroma of chocolate orange, fruit cake, plums and candi sugar. Quite malty, medium bitter finish with a load more fruit. Great stuff!

Can 0.473l from the brewery. Cloudy, copper colored. AROMA- mead with spices, mulled wine, really strongly clove, gingerbread, star anise, cocoa nibs. FLAVOR- very smooth, neutral to slightly sweet, lightly bitter, strong spices again, star anise, clove, cinnamon, gingerbread, slight touch of chocolate, my father's sour cherry liqueur, mulled wine, orange peel. Fuller bodied. Great. Happy Easter or Merry Christmas or whatever...

Keg at Brasseur du Temps, Gatineau. Hazy mahogany colour, mid sized head. Caramelly nose with an array of spices. Mid sweet with full body and dense, rounded mouthfeel. Ouzo, caramel, nutmeg and citrus dominates. Focused and harmonious. Mid bitter finish. A winner!

2013 750ml bomber from a trade, served in a tulip. A dark brown which in the light gives some mahoganey accents that complement the head of beige foam. It has a fantastic fruity nose of cinammon plums, nutmeg, figs, rich dark chocolate malts - yum. The body is ok but a bit on the thin side while the carbonation is just a bit sharp. The taste is cocoa butter, spices and dark pitted fruits. Nice. once it warms up it has a more balanced/fruity flavor with fudge like cocoa... it definitely grows on you and it is amazing how fast this bottle disappeared!

Bien riche, mousse onctueuse... J’ai juste un peu de misère avec le fait que ça ne goûte pas du tout ce que ça sent.

This beer tastes a little like Jagermeister on first sip. Not sure what herbs they use in that, but they are here as well. Pours cloudy dark maroon. Certainly has clove in aroma, with some booze and nutmeg or some other such spice. Sharp on first sip but gets betters as your taste buds adapt. Finishes with light sweetness and a hint of peppermint. Soft carbonation. Tap at brewpub.

Aroma: A real spice cake with anise, crystallized fruits, licorice, pepper, jelly beans, cherries. A powerful and complex nose. Appearance: Brown with copper glints, head is average size, rocky and mostly lasting. Sticks well with a nice lacing. Taste: Liquid Christmas fruit cake with spices all over and a slightly roasted and peppery finish. Again we can find anise, black licorice, crystallized fruits and maraschino cherries. Alcohol is present and well felt giving a full wrapping of flavors. Body is thin and texture too watery; missing a bit of body here. A very sweet beer. May be a bit too much?

750ml bottle via trade with Boutip. Thanks Phil. Pours a translucent deep brown with some lacing off white head. Nose is like a super fragrant candle, nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, Malibu rum, sun tan lotion, birch sap. Flavor is very sugary, ginger snaps, rum raisin ice cream, chai tea, carrot cake, some toasted malt at the end. Full, sweet, spicy finish.

Bouteille 750ml.
