Our winter strong ale has a gorgeous mahogany hue, a hint of hazelnut, and a finish reminiscent of mocha and toffee. No spices, just a perfect blend of five specialty malts.

On tap at Brewer's Republic. Pours a clear, dark brown color, with a medium, fizzy, tan head. The aroma is caramel, vanilla, cranberry, oak, and allspice. Sweet and malty, with excellent balance. Medium to heavy body, with a grainy, effervescent mouthfeel. Simple, spicy, and delicious.

12 oz. can. Thank you Stacey on this huge Advent Calendar! This can is a 2016 vintage. Dark brown color, full lasting head. Aroma is spiced cake, dark bread, and yeast. Flavor is the spice bread, dark caramelized malt, mild earthy spice. Raisins. Alcohol is pretty well now masked. I am sure the year in can mellowed this out big time. This was brewed Pre-buy out to San Miguel, so I still like it. Not sure if I will be buying anything more from this Brewer.

355 ml. can @ Gollem: USA Beerweek(end) #2. Canned 20 October 2016. Very dark ruby brown, tanned big head. Nose is old leaves, ditch water, malt, stale caramel, kitchen spices. Taste is herbal leaves, old bay leaf, sugar, spices, leaves, Chinese medicinal herbs, candy, old candy, cacao, bit too thin,... Body is thinner caramel & bay leaf. Less malt sweet than I hoped, bit too old kitchen spices, medicinal herbs heavy. Okay but not on par with I hoaped, some soap in the body. Bottom of the can read "If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball" :)

Draught @ Milk & Hops - Chelsea. Murky brown with faint reddish tint against the light, very small frothy beige head, sweetish roasted malt aroma, low carbonation, bitter caramel/roasted malt taste with alcohol undertones, somewhat thick body, long bitter caramel finish. Very interesting and smooth brew.

Avery Old Jubilation Ale 8.3% This winter want pours a deep brown with w beige head of foam. The nose is rich bready malts and enticing spices. I get a spiced fruity banana bread kind of vibe from the aroma. Medium to full bodied with a round mouthfeel. The taste is rich malts and delicious fruitiness complemented by mild spices. I get grape & pomegranates coupled with nspice and toffee notes. A bit boozy but mostly well balanced. Yum. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

355ml bottle. Pours dark reddish brown with a small head. Aroma of caramely malts, toffee, syrup and sugary sweetness. Taste is sweet, malty and syrupy with some toffee. Finish is sweet, heavy and warming with loads of syrup, toffee and caramel. Too sweet and messy.
