Tap at Klášterní sýpka. Dark cola body, off white, creamy head. Dry aroma of dark malts, roasty. Lean, quite well carbonated body, roasty notes, creamy, neither chocolate nor coffee-like but quite nice. A good dark lager by all means.

Bottle sampled @ LIBF 2017. Thank you for sharing RB-InBev Belgian crew! Dark brown, little head. Nose is sweet chocolate, East-European basic chocolate profile. Taste is plastic, empty, same cheap East-European chocolate, sugar, very one-note & chocolate profile seems bit odd, artificial. Empty plastic chocolate body. Okay-ish for but others raved.

At LIBF ’17, shared by Hamirubi, cheers! Described as a coffee dark lager, interesting idea. Pale yellowish beige, medium sized head lacing in ’dots’, over a hazy caramel-hued chestnut brown beer. Aroma has a lot of ’real’ coffee powder to it, hints of carame, dry tea, hazelnut, minerals, straw. Neutral lager-like onset sweetened by caramelly maltiness but no esters, softish carbo, somewhat thin body but that is no surprise in a lager below 5% ABV, feels a tad watery; nice hazelnutty and butterscotch-like, typical tmavý malt profile though, pleasant, with this coffee grounds aspect returning in the end, not providing roasted bitterness but instead colouring the finish with an espresso quality; something sourish lingers after that alongside a herbal, tea-ish, only very softly bittering noble hop touch. Much more coffee-ish in its aroma than any other Dunkel or tmavý I had before, setting it apart a bit and since I like the aroma of coffee (more so than the actual taste, actually), I can appreciate this as a special, bit individualistic example within the Bavarian-Czech dark lager tradition.

Bottle sample @ LIBF’17, thanks to the RB-InBev Belgian crew for the share.
