Onyx offers quite rich aromas with hints of coffee, malt, cocoa and vanilla. A thick and complex flavor, a high percentage of alcohol.

0.33l bottle. Pitch black body with a moderate brown head. Lots of chocolate and cocoa in the aroma with some vanilla, coffee and nutmeg. Taste of chocolate, coffee, nutmeg, grassy hops and some vanilla. I don't get the orange peel. But it's a very nice RIS anyways.

Bottle. Black pour. Aroma of roasted malt, burned caramel, licorice, bitter chocolate and some smoke. Taste has bitter dark chocolate, boozy burned caramel, licorice, roasted malt, coffee, smoke and a bitter finish. No orange to be found and the vanilla is very subtle, but it's a good bitter burned imperial stout. More American than British.

Cet Onyx est un peu comme une boule à facette...selon l'endroit où l'on est, nous n'avons pas le même reflet ! Cela est quelque peu déconcertant mais cet imperial stout possède de telles qualités aromatiques qu'on se laisse séduire par cette badinerie. Cacao, vanille et écorce d'orange ont été ajoutés au brassin. Brun foncé quasi noir en verre (EBC de 116), sans mousse et une effervescence très faible, le nez est tout de même légèrement décevant avec une dominante chocolat accompagné de caramel, café et noisette. Cela devient plus intéressant à la dégustation. L'attaque, sur une texture fine est relativement douce avec des arômes encore en dedans de chocolat, caramel et vanille. L'alcool, à 11% est un peu brut. La deuxième bouche est plus sur l'amertume à 70 d'IBU est très certainement portée par les zest d'orange. Les arômes s'équilibrent davantage avec le café. L’arrière-bouche présente une dominante chocolat/noisette marquée, toujours sur une amertume marquée. Final impressionnant, très long et où les arômes enrobent superbement le palais et avec de très beaux arômes de café expresso. L'alcool est cependant tout de même un peu dissonant. Un imperial stout tout en variation.

Zwart bier zonder schuim. Smaak is bitterzoet met iets van bittere chocolade, koffie en noten. Heeft een heel fijne bittere afdronk.

Bottle from Beergium. Black, lasting creamy beige head. Strong roasted aroma, coffee, malt, dark choc, a little ash. Roasted, malty flavour. Choc, coffee, ash and a little licorice. Fortunately no orange peel... quite bitter. Full bodied, lasting alc warmth. Nicely balanced. Good one.
