As the name states, the oatmeal pale ale uses all-UK ingredients. We're putting out various prototypes of this beer as we experiment with traditional and new English hops. Expect earthier hop aromas and flavours but none of the drabness, we're Weird Beard after all!

Bottle at Craft Beer Co, Brixton, Saturday 3rd December 2016 whilst on a Brixton and Brockwell Park walk from the London Hidden Walks Book vol 2 Pours a hazy golden colour with a filmy white head. Punchy hoppiness, citrus, really dry finish, drinks really well for a 4.5% beer. Fair play to Weird Beard this is a damn good modern interpretation of an English Pale Ale. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a crystal clear medium amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is gluey malt light floral hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a yeast, grassy hop, citrus, pepper spice palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Plenty going on and fine for a session watching the footy!

On tap at the Waterloo Tap. A hazy pale amber pour with a grassy aroma; sweet, with some bubblegum fruit to start, but nicely balanced by a dry resinous bitterness; finishing lingering bitter grapefruit, lemon, mango and digestive biscuit. Good stuff.

Bottle at Bottle Shop Canterbury, Clear gold orange colour lasting white head. Some orange aroma. Orange zest. Then some earthiness in the mouth with more orange fruit in the finish. Tasty enough pale ale. Good orange fruit malts are a bit dull and not much yeast character

Bottle at home in London - picked up at Offie & Toffee. Pours totally clear yellow-gold, moderately effervescent, with a creamy, white head. Restrained citric hops in the nose, some dry biscuit, straw, lemon peel. Light sweet flavour with easygoing, lightly dried pale malts, some pine needles, rindy citrus, nips of flinty minerals. Light bodied with average carbonation. Fairly clean to conclude, with further rindy, pithy citrus character, light sweetness, some minerals, a little grass, peach, white grape. Overall, it drinks easily but is quite basic. Enjoyable.
