Bien que relativement simple, ce Poltergeist vieilli en fut d'Heaven Hill n'en est pas moins efficacement bon et bien fait. Avec une base à la fois ronde, intense et puissante alliée à une vieillissement sans fausse note. Le visuel est sur un brun foncé sans mousse. Le nez est au whisky, raisin et caramel avec de fines épices. En bouche c'est franc, avec une excellente présence en bouche, un alcool à 11% à la fois racé et chaleureux pour un rendu très appréciable. Côté arômes, on retrouve ceux du nez, sans grosse variation mais sans rien à redire. Excellent.

22 June 2020. At De Zwaan, Maastricht. Shared with the lovely Anke! Pours hazy dark brown-blackish with a thick, frothy, beige head. Aroma of ripe red apple, prune, plum, pear syrup, candied banana, sugared peanut, brioche, bourbon, milk chocolate. Taste has sweet plum, raisin, red apple & pear, quite estery-yeasty yet a bit chocolatey too on thick toffee maltiness; faint bitter tea leaves & spices in the back. Dry, earthy hoppy finish, lingering candied fruit, woody & sweet heating bourbon alcohol in the throat. Full body, oily-syrupy texture, soft carbonation. 'Bourbon Barrel Aged' treatment is being used so much nowadays but it's refreshing to encounter it in a Doppelbock - with sufficient balance!

Op tap bij Uiltje. Volzoet, donker fruit, heerlijke bourbon, vanille, bijna Barley Wine achtig. Goed spul.

Heaven Hill BA. Black with thin dark head. Aroma and flavour have plenty of vanilla sweetness from the bourbon. Well balanced and dangerously easy to drink.

Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Malt. Caramel, chocolate and vanilla in the aroma. Full bodied. Malty sweet, alcoholic, vanilla and bourbon in the flavor. Good.

Aroma: malty, roasted, green apples, meh, not very pleasant. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: very sweet, lots and lots of banana peel, oxidized, some cherries. Aftertaste: roast, coffee, cocoa powder, sugary, alcohol, bit malty, decent stuff.
