33cl Bottle from Vonk. Ruby amber colour, beige head. Aroma of spicy saison yeast, light fruity sourness, some candy, floral, lemon peel, caramel. Flavour is medium sweet, candy, light sourness, fruity, light spicy, floral, citrus peel, malts, caramel, light earthy, bitter finish. Medium bodied. Nice, a bit different.

Bab 2016. Thnx to Tderoeck and 77ships for sharing the beers ! Pours unclear amberbrown, small white head. Smell is bit hoppy, taste is bitter, some green hops. Fairly aromatic, some yeast. Very agreeable, bit easy perhaps. But not a bad tasting beer.

Thank you for sharing tderock + kraddel! Sampled 330 ml. bottle @ Bruges Beer Festival 2017. BBF 03.01.2021. Dark bright amber, creamy off-white head. Nose is lightly metallic, pine resin (mellow) + mellow herbal hop, not too heavy but good, grains, malty, neat. Taste is herbal pine resin, bready malt, bit too metallic, herbal grains,... Metallic note is a bit too big for me, body is the same with some malt. Enjoyable decent brew overall still.

5/II/17 - sample @ Brugs Bierfestival - BB: n/a (2017-145) Thanks to 77ships, kraddel and Rubin77 for sharing today's beers!
Clear red brown beer, creamy irregular beige head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: sweet malts, caramel, bit metallic, malty, fruity touch. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bitter start, metallic, malty, sweet, caramel, hoppy. Aftertaste: malty, grains, cow fodder, bit metallic, slightly fruity. Wonder where the metallic touch comes from... Usually not typical in De Proef beers...

At BBF. Special release of Basilius dry-hopped with Amarillo. Thick and frothy, cobweb-lacing, snow white head, hazy amberish bronze colour, a bit lighter than usual for a dubbel (which is the style intended by the brewer). Aroma of orange zest, caramel, fig, yellow raisins, peach, banana, turnip, flowers, dried mango, toasted bread. Fruity, estery onset, light banana with hints of peach and apple, sweet with a sourish undertone, bit gooseberry-ish, medium carbonation, supple mouthfeel, bit ’fluffy’. Bready, bit nutty malt sweetness with a softly, subtly bitterish toasted edge, matching with the floral, earthy and citrusy hop bitterness in the finish, mild but adequate and gently aromatic (though could have been even more orangey to my taste); yeasty banana ester and sweet, juicy maltiness remain. More an amber ale than a true dubbel, classically Belgian with a New World touch; pleasant and enjoyable enough.
