Sampled @ Ratebeer Belgian Summer Gathering 2016. Clear yellow golden color, small white head. Smell and taste don’t remind me of pear at all. Weird. Hard to describe but not that bad. Weird though, I even get smoky flavors. Hmm…Not sure what to think of this one.

3/IX/16 - 50cl bottle @ RBBSG V (Klaas' place) - BB: n/a (2016-950) Thanks to 77ships for sharing the bottle!

Cloudy orange beer, practically no head. Aroma: very peated, smoky touch, bit fruity. MF: soft carbon, medium to light body. Taste: peated notes, very smoky, bit funky, sourish, lemony. Aftertaste: fruity, lots of peat, sourish, slightly bitter, some tannins. Didn't get any of the pear flavour, though?

Pours a hazy golden-amber colour with white cap, decent stay and some thick creamy lower lace. Oh wow ! Was not expecting a smokey Rauchbier, but this one smells like smoke, burnt wood and the fruit very mild in the background, creating some light sweetness. The pear does smooth down the smokies in the taste. Burnt grain with the fruit appearing in the middle. Hints of apples and then, the smoke mildly lingers. Interesting fruity pear Rauchbier. I little too rich overall to finish the bottle (but did nonetheless).

Bottle - Smokey wheat notes. Clear gold with a small white head. Light smokey notes, fruity crisp acidity and some more smoke. Light sweet fruitiness kinda ruined the nice smoke for me.

Shared 16.9 oz. bottle. First lichtenhainer rating. Pours a hazy straw with a large foamy white head. Aroma is fruity, with some pear and campfire-like. Taste is campfire, smoked malts, pear, and fruits. Has both some sourness and some saltiness. Very interesting and unique.

(Keg at Pikkulintu, 20160317) The beer poured deep golden and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had smoke, fruitiness and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were smoke, tartness, fruitines, sweetness, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was smoky and bitter. A decent smoky brew.

Mother Kelly’s. Keg. Lightly hazy gold beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Palate is light, semi dry and a mild fine crispness. Trace of smoke on the nose. Smooth and semi dry malts. Mellow white smoke. Estery pear - quite bright. Little apple before a light dry finish. It’s an interesting quaff but I am still yet to have a really good pear beer.
