Tripel brewed at De Graal but commissioned by a Texas longhorn farm in the Meetjesland region. Membranously lacing, snow white, medium thick, slowly and sparsely opening head over an initially clear 'old gold' coloured beer with pale orangey tinge and a disparate 'fog' of darker, minute yeast bits, perturbed by lively strings of fizz. Aroma of fresh grass, half-ripe banana, old white bread, young 'jenever', light 'cat pee' mercaptans (apparently the bottle is a bit lightstruck), breakfast cereals, dusty old coriander seed, withering lettuce, iron, raw white cabbage, rainwater. Sweetish and sourish onset with notes of light banana, green apple (acetaldehyde touch) and a lot of unripe pear and unripe green melon; spritzy carbonation, smooth mouthfeel but strangely a bit thinnish for a 9% ABV beer - this probably begins to thin a bit by age already. Light metallic and minerally side notes, lingering 'green fruit' esteriness over a cereally and bit caramelly malt body with a thin layer of residual, honeyish sweetness on top; hayish, floral and grassy hop bitterness in the end along with some soapy, spicy coriander and quite explicitly 'jenever'-like, somewhat astringent alcohol. Classic Belgian tripel or 'edelbier' (Duvel style), boozy and accessible, but feeling a tad thin and metallic and not showing much refinement - even De Graal has done a lot better than this in its long existence. Yet another totally pointless and redundant tripel and not the best one around.

Towering, very lightly yellowish head, stable and leaving shards of lace, fed by finely carbonated pale yellow-golden beer. Spicy, yeasty nose, with dryish, lightly toasted malts, hampered by the head. Sharp, spicy, toasted flavours ending in metallic, crude bitterness. Unpleasant metallic effect ruins every other possible flavour. Warming up, develops a sticky sweetness, ruining it even further. Burning MF, enhanced by the relatively good carbonation; faint slickness, falls flat in the finish. We are not amused.

Pours hazy blonde with a small white head. The aroma contains hay, straw, grass, malts, spices and yeast. It tastes medium to heavy bitter. Dry aftertaste. Fizzy carbonation and medium body. Very Duvel-like, all in all, but overcarbonated, alcoholic and too spicy bitter.

Bottle from local Prik&Tik, Maldegem. Clear yellow colour, white foam. Lots of carbonation. Grassy and yeasty beer, notes of citrus and some spices. Reminds me of Duvel.
