Draught @ Kaelderkold, Barcelona. Pours black with a small light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, light coffee, nice brett, wood, wet oak, chocolate, notes of redwine. Flavor is light sweet, rich malty, coffee, tart wood, oak, nice spicy brett, leather, chocolate, light alcohol. Medium body, soft carbonation, oily mouthfull, rather dry finish with some alcohol. 270416

On tap at Euston Tap. Black beer lasting tan head. wow i can smell it from a foot away. Full on brett aroma. Juicy fruity aroma as well as the brett. Same in the glass. Its a juicy dark fruits bretty beer. Sour imperial porter? Well that more or less sums it up. But it doesn’t as the jammy blackcurrant and blackberry is so intense. The finish is juicy yet dry. Ok it’s £4.70 a half but well worth it. Just for the whole attack of flavours. Big intense juicy berry fun. I’ve had cab savs with less juicy black berry/currant flavour. Seriously stunning. Completely delicious sour imperial fruity dark beer. Awesome. Made me smile after a day of bad travel so must have been good.

Keg at Six Deg North, ABZ. It pours jet black with a Decent dirty tan head. The aroma is rich, roasted malts, funky, chocolate, rocky road, barnyard, sour peach, dirty and soft vanilla. The taste is smooth, rich roasted malts, dark chocolate, rocky road, dark fruits, light jam, spice, cherry skin, touch of alcohol warmth, dry wood and coffee with a dry, roasted finish. Full body, fine carbonation and slightly chewy mouth - feel. Good depth of flavour and balance. Great stuff!

Keg at the Redchurch brewery taproom. Pours deep black-brown with a creamy beige head. The aroma dried dark berries, light poop, leather, barnyard funk, faint cocoa. Medium to heavy sweet flavour, with lots of rich, ripe berries and other leathery dark fruits, earthy bitterness, bittersweet baking cocoa, moderate funk. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation and massaging texture. Warming finish with more funky leathery berries, some sugary chocolate and rich bread, alcohol, raspberries, bretty poo. Really interesting stuff overall. It’s quite complex, and very enjoyable in small doses.

200 ml. draft @ Billie’s Bier Kafétaria during the Redchurch Tap Takeover. Black, small but solid mocha head. Nose is big on cold coffee, licorice, syrupy with a light vinous streak. Taste is big on cold coffee, sweetish, low carbonation, mellow but pronounced vinous vanish, light licorice, low sourness, light brett, faint molasses. Basically no carbonation, touch watery. Overall drinks like an Imperial Oud Bruin with coffee which is great, some age might help further develop the Oud Bruin qualities, very nice beer.

Brett beers are hit or miss but this is a definite win. Great collaboration from two well respected brewing legends.
