Bottle at home, 07/03/16. Hazed golden orange with a decent off white covering. Nose is tangerine, orange marmalade, light pine, mango, toasted bread. Taste comprises orange pith, bitter tropicana, citric tinged straw, tangerine, toasted malt, light grapefruit swansong. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with lingering hop bitterness and a chalky mineral bite. Solid APA.

Bottle at home picked up from the brewery. Pretty clear (for a Kernel) golden orange coloured pour with a nice lasting rocky white head. Aroma is nice clean bready malts, grain, nice mellow tropical fruits, lychee, mango and orange rind and tangerine. Flavour is composed of pale bready, grainy malts, grassy citrus, orange rind, grainy, little biscuit, little mineral. Palate is grainy, to a nice drying finish, highish carbonation. Assertive slightly rough grassy finish.

Bottle from the brewery and drunk at home. Hazy amber lasting cream head. Some tangerine aroma from the Amarillo hops. A little bit of caramel in the mouth. Great mouthfeel as almost always with The Kernel. More tangerine and a touch of peach on the finish. Some bitterness that builds on the finish. Not the top notch best APA from The Kernel, There is a little earthiness to it. Good though.

Growler from Oddbins Beer Shop, Blackheath. Hazy gold pour with a white head. Grapefruit and lemon zest aroma which segues nicely into the flavour. Very nicely balanced. Good stuff.

Bottle. Arcade Beers, Huddersfield. Mucky, pale amber. Thick, bubbly, lasting, white head. Nose seems to be at the crisp, citrus end with this. Orange pith. Orange rind. Maybe pink grapefruit. Background notes of gooseberry. Hint of peach. Soft, creamy vanilla malts. It takes some finding, but it does smell great. Taste is light, earthy bitter. Trace of creamy sweetness. Crisp mouthfeel. Some dryness. Pithy, zesty finish, with some dryness on the close.

Temple Brew House. Keg. Hazy gold beer, good pale cream colour head. Airy and semi dry palate, mildly crisp. Thin malts with a modest sweetness. Orange pith and a little peel. Fresh orange comes in. Touches of lemon and floral tropical fruits underneath. Light crisp dry finish with a pithy linger. Good stuff.

Bottle at home in London - picked up at the brewery. Pours unclear gold with a large, whipped up white froth for a head. The nose holds ripening tangerine, pale bread, whispers of pine, orange. Light-medium sweet flavour with a slight edge of flinty mineral, vaguely jammy citrus fruits, balancing pale malt sugars, light piney bitterness. Light bodied with average carbonation. Nicely balanced finish, with just a bit of lip-smacking resin, pithy citrus fruits, some pine, minerals, hints of earth, rindy orange, tangerine, grapefruit. This is Kernel doing Kernel. So dry and refreshing. Wonderful APA.

Keg at the Lyric. It pours cloudy bright golden / pale orange with a small white head. The nose is fresh, bitter - sweet, juicy fruit, sweet tangerine, papaya, creaminess and some grass. The taste is crisp, bitter, waxy orange peel, grapefruit, biscuit, cracker, grass, straw and a touch of spice with a pretty dry finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Taste doesn’t quite match up to the aroma. Still pretty nice overall though.
