Snörkel was brewed with alderwood smoked sea salt and oyster mushrooms takes inspiration from the classic German "Gose" style. Like a traditional Gose, Snörkel is moderate in alcohol and has some acidity, but you won't find the savory, umami flavor of oyster mushrooms in any German version!

Bottle. Buttery, lemony nose, salt, smoke. cloudy pale gold with lace. Soft and creamy, lightly sour, smoke, meaty and very salty. Oily body but refreshingly tangy. Underwhelming overall, and frankly, why all the weird additives?

Bottle split at CBC Clerko, 15/04/15, thanks to Bropey. Lightly hazed pale golden with a moderate off white covering. Nose is citric peel, light smoke, spice, straw, pissy citrics, earthy notes. Taste comprises light salty licks, citric tinged straw, earthy, light smoke, lemon rind, bitter orange. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok sour but nothing I’d rush back to.

Craft Clerkenwell. Bruce’s UK Swan Song. Hazy pale gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and semi dry, very fine carbonation. Light airy creamy malts. Mild mushroom (!!). Modest tangy lemon. Light dry finish. Odd and most unsatisfying.

Bottle shared at Bruce’s leaving do. It pours cloudy gold with a small white head. The nose is earth, musty, barnyard, lactic, salty, something like peach/apricot, wet leaves, light smoke and mouldy cheese. The taste is lightly tart, earthy, must, sherbet, lactic, barnyard, Granny smith apple, earth, light vinegar, light smoke and minerals with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. I get some earthy action that must be the mushroom. Better than expected.

Bottle shared at Bruce’s farewell drinks. Yellow / straw coloured, heavy haze, fleeting white head. Aroma is earthy, wheat doughy grains, hint of citrus lemon. Flavour is doughy grains, gasoline , plastic, crisp lemon, mineral, earthy, just a hint of mushroom. Palate is crisp, mineral, higjish carbonation. Not a huge fan . it’s OK.

Bottle thanks to Adam! Pours a cloudy pale yellow with a white head that dissipates nearly completely. Aroma has lots of earthy grains with some mushrooms, light funk and a hint If tart fruits. Flavor is similar with tart fruits up front but finish of mushroom and earthy grains.
