Well stored, bottled 2015, best before 2020 and sampled 2023. Dark brown body under a small tan head. Aroma has dark malt, dark chocolate, coffee and hint of smoked whisky. Taste is super smooth dark malt, dark chocolate, bitter coffee, some tar, whisky notes and just a faint hint of smoke. Balanced bitterness, balanced body and smooth, warming aftertaste. I guess the smoke flavor has faded quite much during storage, because the whisky notes are much more pronounced than the smoke. Really smooth and very nice anyway.

Brown-black beer with a medium beige head. Chocolate, something of heating oil, roasted grains, dark breadcrust, Maillard, wholegrain toast (overdone), muesli. Bitterish to bitter, very roasted. Dark chocolate, chicory. Taste of black, bitter chocolate is even more obvious in the long aftertaste. Dark green leaves. Smokiness is really very mild, and only evident after quite some warming up. Faint stickyness, especially in the finish. Alcoholwarming, very well-bodied to chewy, smooth, medium carbonation. HtD have a penchant for scorched flavours, and even De Molen couldn't escape, it seems.

(Bottle) Dark brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted, smoky nose with caramel, black rye bread, dark fruit, smoke and some chocolate. Malty, roasted taste with notes of caramel, dark rye bread, smoke, ham, tar, dark fruit, prunes, raisins, liquorice and a balanced roasty bitterness. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. On the sweet side, but tasty and well made with a balanced smoke touch. Very nice.

Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Malt, ash a hint if smoke and fat sausage in the aroma, Malty sweet, roasty soft smoky flavor, licorice. Full bodied, very Low on carbon.

Bottle at home. Three year old. Has a dark brown colour with a beige head. sweet aroma of smoke, chocolate truffles, rye, rum and oak. Roasted flavour with ash, smoke, bourbon, grass, hops and oak. Has a slick and silky mouth feel, full-bodied and medium bitterness. Roasted with a nice Smokey touch.
