17/VI/17 - 33cl bottle from De Hopduvel (Gent) @ home - BB: VI/2017 (despite having bought this only just a couple of weeks ago) (2017-925)
Little cloudy blond to beige beer, creamy off-white head, little stable, bit adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: bit oxidized, yeasty, fruity notes, peaches, spicy. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty sweet start, peaches, yeast, some coriander, bit hoppy. Aftertaste: oxidized, some caramel, malty, spices, ripe banana, traces of almonds and cardboard. I got the feeling this bottle's getting old...

33cl bottle from Hopduvel, Ghent. A hazy straw coloured pour with a billowing loose white head, and lots of fine carbonation; aroma of Belgian yeast and some apricot; smooth in the mouth with a soft fruity taste, and a milky texture; then a gentle spicy bitterness, and a satisfying, warming finish with an aftertaste of orange peel. A pleasant Belgian ale.

Tasted at ’Bierweekend de lambiekstoempers’ 2015. Pours unclear yellow/blonde. Good white head. Smell is intense, bitter. Bit malty. Taste is bitter, bit fruity hops. Not as balanced as I remember the previous version to be. Very high carbo. OK.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Thompson. Hazy yellow to golden color, huge white head that lasts for quite a while. Smell and taste malts, lightly fruitpeel, yeasty, slightly a herbal bitterness. Decent body and carbonation.

330 ml. bottle. Purchased @ De Hopduvel. BBF 08/2016. Hazy golden, sparkling, lacing big fluffy egg-white head. Smell is odd, heavy plastic forward, plastic yeast, mineral, wild weeds, odd esters, clean but odd heavy plastic like with some yeast, odd weeds, faint fish guts,…. Mmmmh,… Taste is lightly milky sweetish white bread mixed with yeast + dough, quite plastic like with faint grain alcohol, mostly just milky & plastic-like sweet white bread, light esters, wild weeds, esters, light, white sugar, light milky fish guts,… Body is milky,… It is slightly odd but overall it is a very common denominator, tad industrial tasting nondescript Belgian beer with no off-flavours,… One that is mildly pleasing even but also one that will only excite people used to a few very safe options. Prefer this one to the common Amarillo iteration, that hop really didn’t work there in my opinion.
