4th Sep 2017: Shrewsbury Bottle Share in Chez Sophie. 500ml bottle brought by me, sadly out of date when split between the five of us. Poured a clear and clean amber with an off-white head on each glass. Sweet caramel rules the nose and taste, toffee flavoured I suppose, pity it was six months past it's best because it did have an 'odd twang' to it.

500ml bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, Sep 17, courtesy of Jeremy. Many thanks! Pours clear amber, small off-white head. Aroma of toffee and light cobwebs. Taste is fairly sweet, caramel, slick on the palate, some cardboard and dust. Take the cardboard out and its a decent Scottish ale, for Lithuania.

500ml bottle. Pours hazy dark orange with a small head. Aroma is toffee and banana. Taste is malty. Toffee and caramel. Raisin and molasses on the finish.

Bottle from Super Lincs, Lincoln. Duellist brown colour with no head. Very sweet malt aroma and taste. Dull. Very low carbonation, gives a flat finish

Bottle from Baltic Branch Dover. Clear Deep golden with a red glow and a small while head. Alcoholy nose. Mild and malty with hints of dried fruit such als dates, raisins and prunes, also vanilla and a barrel-aged flavour.

16.9 oz. bottle. Hazy copper with an off-white head. Aroma of malt and caramel. Sweet-smelling. Taste is malt, caramel, spice, bread and faint alcohol. Moderately sweet finish.

Bottle from Prince International Supermarket, Ashford. Clear orange brown amber colour lasting off white head. Malty aroma. Brown, dry aroma. I’d argue that this is a Scottish Ale. For so many reasons. Is this made with an ale yeast? Or is it just a malty lager? There is some hop on the finish. I mean it’s a malty slightly sweet, syrupy beer with some malty fruit that is attractive, but a bit too one dimensional and doesnt’ go anywhere. If it’s anything, it’s a bitter if made with an ale yeast. If made with a lager yeast, hmmm, then what should it be. Too weak to be a Mocne. But that’s the closest thing. Oh well it is what it is, and it’s an ok bitter.

500ml bottle in Kaliningrad (May 2013). Pours amber with a white head. Aroma of butterscotch, some fruits. Taste is similar with biscuit and some faint hops. Not an ale, but I liked it anyway.
