This beer is aged on new Missouri oak. The wood has a medium toast, which helps to caramelize the sugars in the oak and adds a nutty character to the beer as it soaks into the wood. Leave the corkscrew in the kitchen drawer and pop open a beer that will reward you with more flavors than most wines can dream of.

Aroma is very very sweet with slight oaky notes, and quite a bit of sweet nutinesss. The hops have been subdued and have turned slightly soapy. The booze is prevalent and a little to up front. The finish is quite sweet but it does finish bitter with a sweet malty nutty finish.

Huge oak in this. Bigger than the beer. If you want a glass full of barrel, this is your thing. Or maybe just order a whiskey. Pours reddish amber with ok head and lacing. Finishes with oaky bitterness. A hint of caramelized malt behind the oak. Tap at Scion.
