From old tasting notes. Translucent copper red color topped by a big creamy beige head. Rich winey roasted malt aroma. Complex, yeasty, fruity malt flavor hints at currants and toffee. Quite enjoyable.

(bottle) clear deep amber colour with a small tan head; aromas of wheat, spices; balanced flavour; not bad, like a Scottish wheat

Originally rated this April 2005 (3.4/5) but now that I have a new one, might as well see if it has changed or not. Still pours a deep amber colour with a beige head that hangs averagely and creates decent lacing. The smell still reminds me of hefeweizen, more than a scottish ale, with its spicy yeasty nose. Does smell more malty after breathing, but still, the yeast reminds me of most Unibroue beers. More malt shows up in the taste, with some caramel and roasted ones, all well-balanced with some hop bitterness in the finish. Still, nice notes of spices, but not much aftertaste (a little tarty with the bitterness). A nice brew, but not sure about the style they gave this one.

Bouteille 341ml.

Bottle: Poured a clear medium brown color ale with a huge bubbly slightly off-white head with average retention. Carbonation is quite low and body is a bit thin. Aroma of caramel malt is easily identifiable and quite enjoyable. Taste is also dominated by quite sweet caramel malt with a very subtle bitter ending. Again, the fresher the sample the better this is since it seems to be declining quite rapidly once it hit the shelves.

Ambr orange ale with a light off white head. Wet straw aroma with cranberries. In mouth, like a sweet lager, with light fruity notes. More like a Vienna in mouth. Overcarbonated, unbalanced and way off style. Tasted 28/01/05 at Institut Scotch Ale tasting.

Quite spectacular. A medium reddish brown color and a thin white head. The nose is very malty with apple cinnamon, toffee, pineapple and brandy. The front chocolate trufflish like the body is slightly sour with pineapple and brandy notes leading to a sharp bitter finish.
