At 4.5% ABV, 54° North is a Helles Lager brewed using German Pilsner Malt together with Magnum and Polaris hops, as well as the classic German aroma hop, Tettnang. We’ve stayed true to the style, with 54° North offering a balanced pint with a crisp bite and beautifully fresh aroma. Formulated by our creative brewing team and though predominantly German in style, 54° North uses our own yeast strain and pure water from the Yorkshire Dales to give it a Black Sheep spin.

We top-ferment 54° North in our much-loved Yorkshire Square fermenters here in Masham, before it is lagered for a month to allow the beer to mature and develop.

330ml can from my son's Beer52 box: BB31st Mar 2022. Drank on my patio on 6th Jun 2021. Clean and clear light golden body, fast fading white crown. Nothing to get excited about, but it's a decent enough Lager/Helles with the usual attributes of very little aroma or any strong flavours. Went well with my BBQ food.

Bottle from ASDA Supermarket, Halifax. Golden with a bubbly head. Has a fair malty-pilsner blast in both aroma and taste, fairly clean textured too, but it is just a lager!

66cl bottle from Morrisons, Bracknell. A straw coloured pour with fast fading white head; grainy aroma with a hint of grass; sweet and grainy in the mouth with some Yorkshire yeast; then a very light grassy bitterness, before a rather cloying finish.

Bottle. Morrisons. Clear gold. Thin, white head. Nose has syrup. Hairspray. Butter. Taste is sweet, with some privet leaf bitterness. Syrupy mouthfeel. I’m glad I’m drinking this really cold. Buttery, soapy finish. Now I quite like a shitty lager, but this actually went down the sink. And it’s not often I do that.
