Genesis is our flagship blonde sour and one of our inaugural offerings from the Funkatorium. Fermented with over a pound per gallon of pineapple, guava, papaya, and mango the beer is then aged in wine barrels and blended to accentuate the wild and tropical nature of the yeast and fruit.

Bottle. Pours clear golden, small fizzy white head, quick dissipation, some lacing. Aroma is a big up front burst of butterscotch, followed by some tropical fruit, caramel, oak. Flavor is there too - hella butterscotch, some fruitiness, pineapple note in particular, oaky tannins. Light residual sweetness, lightly tart. I am giving the benefit of the doubt here, but this is the butterscotchiest beer I have ever tried.

750 ml bottle courtesy of Theydon_Bois. Pours hazy pale golden with a small frothy white head that leaves a small trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is fruity with crackers, lemon juice, lime juice, pineapple, peaches, star fruit, yoghurt, hay, dry soil, minerals and lemon zest. Taste is sour and fruity. Mouthfeel is dry, tart, mouthpuckering and light bodied. Finish is sour with crackers, lemon juice, lime juice, pineapple, peaches, yoghurt, hay, dry soil, minerals and lemon zest. Tasty simple citric-centered sour. Wouldn’t mind more depth though...

Bigger tasting at Ronny’s flat, Copenhagen. Lightly hazy pale gold beer, thin white head. Palate is light and dry, modest fine carbonation. Mild lemon sourness alleviated by a little orange peel. Dry finish. Not picking up any of the added fruits.

Location: Draft at the Wicked Weed Funkatorium, 1/2/15
Aroma: The nose is sour and tropical fruit mostly, grape and wine notes as well
Appearance: It pours a clear gold, with minimal head, and no lace
Flavor: The taste is much the same, with sour, funk, and tropical flavors
Palate: This one has a light-medium body, with a pretty good mouthfeel
Overall Impression: I actually quite enjoyed this. I've had enough of them to say at this point that Wicked Weed knows what they are doing with sour and funky flavors.
