Bottle. It pours a dense, beige head over a clear, reddish brown body. Looking quite nice, and there’s curtains too. Dried fruits, some caramel and cellar, brown sugar and a little piney touch. Quite dry on the palate, with a pleasant carbonation level. Dried fruits, caramel, brown sugar and even more dried fruits. Piney notes, and a little bitterness. Lasting finish with sweetness, bitterness and lots of dried fruits. A nice one. 131214

Pours reddish brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, brown sugar, yeast, dried fruits and hint of floral. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a long caramel, finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

33 cl. bottle of unspecified vintage (but BBF 01/12/2011) sampled @ Kulminator. Pours blackish dark brown with a small tanned head. Nose is clearly oxidized with some mould as well is brown sugar, figs & dark fruits, heavy on brown sugar sweetness,… Taste is heavy on oxidation, mould, dust, big sweetness, brown sugar, dark fruits, figs, strong & simple syrup, cardboard, soapy, light molasses,… Body is thinned out. Okay but off-flavours from the oxidation have corrupted this one a bit too much.

slightly reddish dark brown colour, huge brownish head, which, however collapses quickly; aroma and taste of caramel, brown sugar, burnt wood and intensive fruityness (mostly grape); good dubbel

Poured a deep mahogany with a thin frothy off-white head. The aroma is rich citrus fruit leading to a medium bitter flavour with a zesty fruity, slightly sweet palate. Very drinkable in the summer. I’m not sure how I would feel after 2 or 3 bottles though.

19/V/13 - 33cl bottle from Comptoir des Fagnes (Couvin, BE) @ home - BB: 16/VII/13 (2013-492)
Note: shared with BelvidereIPA and our wives
Little cloudy red brown beer, creamy beige head, unstable, bit adhesive. Aroma: pretty soapy, floral, sweet ripe fruits, peaches. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: some citrus, fruity, very soapy hops, orange peel, little bitter. Aftertaste: hint of mocha, caramel, chocolate, soapy, bit watery. Not very exciting...

May 2009: Brown 33cl bottle, plenty of life left, poured into a Westmalle chalice. Dark, deep black in colour, tanned foam head, looked fine. Malts and Belgian beery smells, it must be the yeast? This designer beer was a lot better than I expected, this is one of this breweries better beers in my opinion. Rich, creamy and full of flavour (malts mostly). I slag this brewery off normally, but credit where credits due, this is OK.
